iMac as an external monitor?

Can one use an iMac (intel-based) in some sort of "external monitor" mode. In other words, hook up my PB to it & display the PB screen on it. I cannot see a native way to do it, but perhaps there's a 3rd-party something-or-another device out there?

The only way I can think of would be to put the laptop into firewire disk mode and boot from it on the iMac, but since you have an Intel iMac and a PPC laptop it's won't work.

i considered an Imac as a replacement desktop. but not being able to use the monitor as an external for future builds kinda seems like a waste of money to me now.
