It will also support Merom.

I wonder how long it will be before there is a bios fix for the A6Ja? I'm assuming that it has the issue being X1600 based although I can't say I've noticed anything. Maybe I'm in for a pleasant image quality surprise

I'll run 3Dmark tonight with new VGA BIOS to see if there is any performance drop but I don't think it will.

I had an older Bios, but I didn't get a new hardware found message. Everything seems to be working fine for me.

After flashing did you go into the bios and hit F10 to save everything? I got tons of hardware found messages after flashing by following Ken's instructions completely. No driver installs needed though.

well i followed ken's instructions step by step but didnt come across any new hardware found messages. Its probably something to do with the fact that i am running omega drivers instead of the ati catalyst !!

hey guys, im not sure if this is part of the grainnes issue or not, but i've had this problem with the toolbars in some of my programs ever since I first got the laptop. If you look at the toolbars, they are a different shade of colour., theres a photo below to show an example.

on the top of the toolbar, the "file", "view", "edit", "help" etc buttons are all white instead of the grey. The pic is a bit small so its hard to see, but its more obvious on notepad in the screenshot.

All the video and win xp drivers are up to date. I haven't tried the new beta bios drivers yet. thanks!

I haven't got a chance to test it with Vista beta, I'll test it sometimes in the future.

ah, the grainyness is indeed gone.
only one thing besides the grainyness that i notice - the logo in the corner on startup has changed from the centrino logo to just an intel symbol. i've heard that you lose the centrino logo if you stop using the intel wireless and other such things(not sure if thats true or not), but maybe this is because its a beta? anyway, definitely not a big deal.

Yes, maybe Ken can tell ASUS about the change of Intel logo? That's the only 'bug' in this beta BIOS I think...

And Ken, judging from the number (209), I reckon the 208 (which is not out yet) should be the first one to include Merom support?

It's your Windows Appearance settings, You can change the color back by going to Display Properties>Appearance>Advanced and change color settings for "Item>Menu".
