Update:
list all graininess-free BIOS on page 1 for your convenience.

Thx for the list. Too bad there's still no graininess-free BIOS for the W2J

Thx for the upload!
However, do you think the bios can be flashed in a W2Jc?

Yes the BIOS can be flash on W2JC since it's X1600 video card.

Fantastic ? No, simply standard !

No, you're right ! It should be standard, but since it's not, it's fantastic to have got a solution thanks to Ken. I appreciated it the same way when I loaded the beta Bios for my F3Ja.

But it is real problem to be obliged to go in forums such this one, and hopefully to find there a guy like Ken, to solve our issue. And in the meantime, nothing in Asus's web site... Oh yes, two bios updates (for F3Ja at least), none of them fixing the grain issue (even if these bios are more recent than the Beta provided by Ken. Clearly, Asus support is

You're absolutely right Laurent. I bought a 2800 euro notebook only to find out that there is zero support from ASUS. When I mailed ASUS asking them if they were working on a BIOS update for the W2J solving this problem, I got this reply:

Dear Sir,

On this moment this is not an issue. Please call the nearest service center for repair on this problem.

Best Regards,

On quite the same question, the answer I got was how to flash the Bios.
And, moreover, what they described were not working !!!!

And when I asked some other questions, the answers were always "poor" (and more or less erroneous...)
I tried to ask them : "may be, this site is for "all public", not a very technical one. Please give the mail adress of R&D in Taiwan, I could talk directly to them.." Never got any answer...

Hiya!

Is there any news on an A6Ja Bios release with the fixed Video Bios?

I suspect I'm not the only A6Ja owner quietly waiting for an update.

Mr Gentech, can you help us?

Hi,

I just found about this grain problem and I don't know what it really is about.
However I'm planning to buy an Asus notebook with Ati X1600.
The model is Asus A6KT-Q086 with Turion 64 processor
http://www.emag.ro/notebook/notebook...an--pA6KT-Q086

Reading in this forum, about the ignorance of Asus and Ati, I am wondering if I'm doing the right thing and if assus really worth it.

Please let me know if this grain problem appears on this Asus model too.
And if I should go for nvidia...

Thanks

I have searched and I cant get any results for A7J, but I have an new Asus A7J with the X1600 and the same grain issue, do any of these files apply to it? Do you think I should worry about flashing under vista?

Sky Lover,
You'll need a bootable CD to flash BIOS : http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/images/N...s/F3JA_206.nrg

1: Download NERO image file
2: Use Nero to burn the image file to the CD
3: Insert CD and when first power on the laptop press "ESC" at Intel logo screen
4: Select Optical drive at boot options screen
5: at "A:\" prompt type "Update" and press "Enter".
6: it'll automatically update the BIOS and don't turn off or reset the computer during BIOS flash.
7: screen will go back to "A:\" prompt when finish
8: restart the computer and then hold F2 to enter BIOS, press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
