I for one am Very grateful for your efforts Ken.
The fact that you posted all your work on NBF just proves you're not after a sale - that being said, if I lived in the USA I would gladly make you my number 1 choice.

Thanks again

Hi

I had to flash my F3JA with your BIOS and i used that method for burning a cd with the link you provided for the nero file. AS i could not down grade using the winflash untility. I carried out all your steps and it flashed the BIOS without problems and then i rebooted and once i did this then it came up with a error "could not verify bios" or something similar, but i entered the BIOS and clicked the defult bios and restarted again, and checked the bios version and it was the one you provided, and i didn't have any problems after this,

do you think i should attempt to flash it again, it was pretty scary when the message had come up. Would winflash allow me to flash the same version of bios on to my laptop?

Thanks

No WinFlash does not allow you to flash the same BIOS version.

I think you are OK and don't need to flash it again.

Thanks a lot.

Hello from Germany to Mr. Ken Lee.
Thank you very much for posting the F3JP bios on your thread.
You have made my life wonderful. The display looks great after I downgraded the bios to v203.
If I was in USA you can be sure that I would buy my notebook from GenTechPC only.
I just registered to this forum to say thanks to you for the really great work you are doing here.

I have sent many email to ASUS support in Germany concerning this graining probelm with my F3JP-AP029M notebook. Their reply has made me really angry.
What they told me is that there is no hardware problem. It is only a resultion problem due to windows xp incompatibility with 18bit LCD (WXGA) which would not be fixed.
I have sent them links of many theards to prove that it is actuallly a hardware problem and that ASUS Taiwan and USA are aware of it.
After I have solved the probelm, I have sent them another angry email to tell them how ignorant they are.

Thank you again. I guess we here in Germany has to rely on you to get us some news when ASUS is going to release final bios with this update.
The latest official bios for F3jp is v206 from 26th of january, and still does not fix the graining problem.

You are welcome and I am glad the BIOS fixed the graininess problem of your F3JP.

Why don't you show them this thread let them know that Asus Taiwan and USA is aware of the graininess and has provide BIOS fix for the problem for all models and to see what's their response is?

Also let them know that if they keep ignore or unaware of the graininess problems I can report it to Taiwan headquarter that their Europe support team needs improve.

Here is newer Beta BIOS version 205 if you want to try, I was told by Asus it also fix the graniness problem, he couldn't tell me what exactly does it fix besides the graininess since there are too many beta BIOS for many models:

Thanks again for quick reply.

Thank you again Mr. Lee for the bios v205 and for the quick reply.
I will try the new version and I will post here if there would be any problems with this.

I have bought F3JP-AP029M three weeks ago, and as a matter of fact I have been reporting this problem to ASUS Germany for more than 15 days.

Last Monday I sent them link to this thread here. I also provided them with a copy of the bios v203 from this thread. I told them clearly that ASUS headquarter in Taiwan and USA branch already know about this problem and that they are working on it.
Here I quote the last response from them:

"I contact our L2 support. He agrees with me. This is a resolution problem, I´m sorry about that."

This ASUS Germany support guy is always trying to convince me that it is only a resolution problem which cannot be fixed.
That was the last reply I received from ASUS Germany, after that they have stopped replying to my email about this issue.

It would be very nice of you if you could report this to the headquarter in Taiwan so that we in Germany will also have some good ASUS support and no dum replies about an existing problem. I wonder if the ASUS Germany don’t get any feedback from the headquarter about know issues in the notebooks.

Actually there are many German forums discussing this problem. I am going to give the link to your thread there. So that everybody knows that there is actually a solution existing on the contrary to what ASUS support in Germany is saying.

Thank you again. You are very kind and helpful.
I think without your efforts ASUS would never had tried to address this issue.

Hello Mr. Ken Lee.

I have just tested the beta bios v205 that you provided me for my F3jp notebook.
I have some very bad news. This version of the bios does not solve the graininess problem.
My screen was as grainy as before after I upgraded to this bios.
As soon as I have downgraded to v203 again, the graininess disappeared.

It would be really nice if you can report this back to ASUS so that they know that the latest solution they have implemented does not lead to better results.

I have already test v204, v205 and v206 on the F3jp notebook. I can confirm that non of these actually work.
Best version so far is 203 only.

Hi Ken,

bad support is not only in Germany, but also in France !

When I sent them a request (for my F3Ja, it was a little bit before your beta Bios was available), I sent them a link to this thread, and I told them that the bug was well known by Asus, that some Bios had already been provided for other laptops, and so forth...

The only answer I got was 100% out of scope ! And I never got a right answer !

Don't hesitate to report to Taiwan headquarter that their Europe support team needs improve, as you propose !

By the way, don't you have news about availability of "final" (not beta) Bios for F3Ja ?

Regards
Laurent

First let me say that this is a great site with alot of useful info. I am, however, having trouble finding information on upgrading my bios to fix the "grainy" issue on my F3JP. I'm not sure which .bin file I should use. I see two: C: f3ja.bin and C: f3jp.bin. I've googled over and over and I'm no closer to an answer. So, hopefully someone here can help.

Download BIOS 203 here

the BIOS should be F3JP203.ROM, use WinFlash and browse the file and then click "Flash".

Asus director called on Friday and will be visit GenTechPC on Tuesday, I'll tell him everything you guys complant about.

As for the final BIOS, I was told they are very busy on different models, so it might take a while, also bad news for W3J owners, the vista BIOS will take longer than other models.

Winflash will not install this bios, my notebook shuts down and I have to use the ASUS flash utility. Thats where I get confused.

Hi myfirstlaptop, in order to flash your F3jp notebook with this bios, put the bios file (F3JP203.ROM) directly under C.
At the startup press F4, this should start the flash utility.
Under the flash utility navigate to C directory and select the F3JP203.ROM file.
Then just select to flash it.
Good luck.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Mr. Lee,

Thanks a lot for all the help that you are providing us here. It is very relieving to know that you are going to raise this issue up to the ASUS director.
I hope he will put some good pressure on the ASUS support in the Europe so that they will provide us with a better quality of support in the future.

Concerning the Bios for F3jp, as I have told you before the beta bios v205 does not solve the graining problem. Only v203 is really working until now. I have tested also the final release bios v206 it also does not solve the problem.
It would be very kind of you if you could provide us with some information (when it is available to you) about the next beta or full version of bios for F3jp that will also solve the graininess problem.

I hope also after the visit of the director to GenTechPc the European support will also start to provide us with the latest information about the graininess problem.

We have to keep our fingers crossed.

Thanks again for all the help, you are really too kind.

You are welcome.

Hi,
You are welcome.
Let us know here if F3JP203.ROM also solves the graininess problem for you.

Grainy issue resolve, however, I am a little concerned that my VGA is running hotter now with the fan constantly high. I'm not currently using a laptop cooler, will this help things?
