Ken question I just tried my Z96JS with an external LCD , and when playing a video with VideoLAN I see the image it's pixelated like I see the edges of the pixels on screen is that the grainness issue or it's something else?

Hi Ken,
I've just tested this new BIOS, and it seems to be OK : I can't see any grain.

Some questions :
1) Is this BIOS a "final" and official BIOS, or still a Beta like the 206.T01 you provided us a few month ago ?
2) Do you know which modifications / enhancements / bug fixing are included in this Bios versus 206.T01 ?

Thanks a lot for this Bios, all your help, and in advance for your answers !

It's a beta BIOS,they just modify the VGA BIOS from the Version 207 since they said I only request the grininess fix: BIOS 207 "Implement "Battery P-state" function to prevent battery overheating." unless there are issues with it, the beta 208 might be the last BIOS for F3JA, They will just release it as official BIOS.

Ok thanks.

Up to now, it seems to be working. If I discover any issue, I let you know.

Almost 10 days later, I confirm : no issue discovered with this Bios.
I even thought it was fixing a bug in power management... but unfortunately no : the bug is still there.

The bug is that sometimes, after power management switches off the screen, it's no more possible to have it up again. All is working, keyboard, drive, sound, etc..., but the screen remains black. The only solution is to force sleep mode (hopefully, fn+F1 makes that possible without seeing anything on screen), then wake up the pc.
And this bug doesn't come on a "fresh" windows session. I never stop Windows, but make "hibernate" my Pc (Hibernate="Veille prolongée" in french. I don't remember english word). And after several days (1 at the worst, 10 at the best, it depends), the bug comes.
And after sleep/wake up to get again pc control, I restart the Pc, and it's OK again for several days.

Does anybody have beginning of an idea ?

As far as I know it's related to VGA drivers, you can try completely uninstall the ATI driver and install this one:

Hi Ken,

what describes KB923232 is not exactly the symptoms I have.
But using your links, I've found KB917332 which is EXACTLY the issue I have.
But in both case, the hotfix is for the same file, Videoprt.sys.

So question : Do you think I would better to apply hotfix of KB917332, or the one of KB923232 which is more recent in time ? I guess the more recent is better, but I would like your advice.

Thanks

Both KB923232 and KB917332 are related, the KB923232 is the most recent update, I recommend just download and install KB923232 hotfix.

Hi Ken,
thanks a lot for your answer. I've downloaded the fix for French Win XP from http://thehotfixshare.net

But stil one question : How did you find the answer to my question ? I tried to search in MSoft KB, but I didn't find anything ! Do you have a particular way of doing ? Of defining keywords ? Or is it only chance ?

Hi,

my computer (f3ja with grain prb) has been returned from asus sav but they after they sent me back they update the bios with the 207 so my grain be back I'll try to install the 208beta with winflash but after the reboot of winflash the bios was not installed so i've already the grain on screen... somebody can help me ???
After reboot, did you use the F2 key to go in BIOS and choose to flash it ?
I remind that Winflash DOESN'T flash the Bios, but ONLY check the bios file, put a copy of it under C:\F3Ja.bin which has to be loaded manually entering in the Bios (it xists also another function key to press at POST, but I don't remember which one. F4 ?) No matter, since flashing is available thru Bios setup (F2) menus

The official BIOS 208 seems to fix the graininess problem (at last!). Funnily though, I wasn't able to flash it using the BIOS flasher invoked by pressing F4 at POST, getting an 'unable to recover BIOS ROM' error each time, but Winflash was able to perform it.
Where can you find it? in support.asus.com i cannot get any new bios...
You should be able to see it on this page:

http://support.asus.com/download/dow...map&mapindex=0

This is the list I obtained by locating the F3Jp's support page. The BIOS is the latest update.

If you manage to update using the Easy Flash Utility (F4 at POST, or link from the BIOS), do reply. I'm quite interested to know if I'm the only one whose built-in BIOS flasher is unable to perform an update that Winflash can.

sorry i understood you were referring to F3Ja....
For F3Ja, there is the 208.T00 provided by Ken a few post above.
I've put it on my F3Ja AK038H a few weeks ago, and all's fine
