X1600 Grainness issue update from Intel - Page 4

Since this is a VGA BIOS update, and not the motherboard BIOS update, is it possible it would work on other computers with the X1600? Like the Acer 5672?

All S96J/Z96J will have the new BIOS before we ship. You can email me regarding shipping to Canada.

No, the NB BIOS and VGA BIOS are all together, you can't use it on any other models, Acer users will have to request Acer to update BIOS for them.

I found out W3J even has older BIOS version: A050504.004, since Asus now know the code in the VGA BIOS of how to fix it so I am sure they'll release new BIOS very soon.

Hi guys well there are a couple of things I need to know from the Z96J ,What about this new BIOS VGA FIX dealing with the grainnness issue Anyways.

- What's the real battery life with the 9 Cell battery , ( I understand the 9 cell battery fits on the primary battery slot right? )

- What about gaming on non native resolution , like 1024 x 768 ?

- And something quite odd what about the AC adapter about getting super dupy HOT , my sagers 5680 adapter gets real hot.. maybe this is common science over AC adapters.. maybe not .

- And last, I wanted a well built , designed lap in terms of airflow engineering , being able to game, do intensive processing, been all the way round through SAGER I got an old 5680 quite bulky, and noisy.
I chose Asus cause I know their facilities build laps for many manufacturers like Apple, Sony But It also came to my mind a sony VAIO what do you guys think I'm in between 1600-1700 U$s.

Is there any chance the F3JM to come with a merom processor and a higher cell battery? thanks

I just flashed the BIOS on my S96J (recently purchased from GenTech) - and all graininess is gone! No more looking at games and Photoshop through a screen door! Thanks a ton, Ken, it goes a long way to proving your business ethic when you go the extra mile to make your customers (as well as those who aren't even your customers!) satisfied. I feel very confident in recommending others to GenTech. Of course, this is just BETA, but I have yet to encounter any bugs etc...

The official BIOS will be just the same as BETA since Asus only modify the VGA BIOS from BIOS version 0901.

the NB BIOS is still 0901 and I confirmed that while I update it from 0901 to 1101 since there isn't any "new hardware found" after I boot to Windows, you'll only get "new hardware found" if you have BIOS version older than 0901. I'll run 3Dmark tonight with new VGA BIOS to see if there is any performance drop but I don't think it will.

Thanks so much Ken.

Ken, thank you very very much for that beta BIOS.

It's fixed the dither issues perfectly.

It remains to be seen if it has also fixed the artifacting problems I had.

In any case, thanks again for pulling through for the community when Asus wouldn't.

Oh man, this is absolutely amazing! I never knew how good the screen could REALLY look until now. The fog of war has been lifted from my digital world! Thank you so much Ken ( +++Rep) and the original pioneers of this cause!

As a side note to those burning the .nrg image to a CDR/CDRW: I ran into some problems because I have PowerISO as my default burner. Do not associate .nrg files with PowerISO---associate them with Nero. This way, you can just double click on the file and Nero will prompt you for a burn. Also, do not use the
"make bootable CD" options on Nero, PowerISO, Easy CDCreator, etc. as this will add a whole bunch of junk files that will mess up the BIOS update.

Aaaaaaaaaah.... It's So Pretty!

I Love my S96J.

Has anyone tried playing FEAR, because that was the game that the graininess was very distict. Hopefully any graininess from Fear is gone also
post #77 of 447
Yeah, its absolutely gone from FEAR as well as any other game. I thought it was very apparent in Oblivion at night time (especially using Natural Environments mod) - it looked sometimes like your face was pressed up against a screen door, but now it is crystal clear. All is right with the world.
Wow, the issue is all gone! Thanks a ton Ken. The only problem is now I can see how dusty my screen really is.

You have to "fix" that yourself, I request Asus to fix that as well and they refused.
