Hey guys I currently have an AW lappie, tis old though and ready for the pasture.

The HP dv6000 serries loaded comes as close to what I really want than any other laptop on the market, although the are a few things, and battery life is not so much.

But I searched, cant find decent pics of this, aka a full set.
Thought I could find um here as in the AW section there are almost full disassembly/reassembly pics posted of every model but no joy????

Could sum1 with this model PLEASE post a full spread of pics!!!!
I'll host them if needed!!!

PLEASE!!!!

ps I know there is a seperate pic subforum, but most pics 1st show in review section and there hasnt been any.

Not yet, maybe this week

Don't have any pics yet, but might be able to take some this week. There is a full maintenance manual plus guides on line (hp site - use dv6040us and select the documentation button).
It really is an attractive notebook (especially the black lid) and the palm rest has the same effect except on silver. The latchless lid is also nice - much like some of the Sony's except the hinges seem studier. The battery life with the 12 cell (about $180 for the HP version) lasts for at least 5 hours while the 6 cell is about 2.5 hours. The TL-52 is only a 31w CPU, and the nVidia Go 7200 is also a lower power unit. Moving up to a faster CPU increases the power requirement, as will moving to a more capable GPU. I had an Acer 5276 with the duo core T2300 and ATI x1400 GPU, the battery life was under 2 hours (web and non-3D programs) and the palm area ran close to 105 degrees F unless I used a cooler. Returned it for the HP and gained a cooler running, longer battery life, better sound (speaker wise), and much studier build, at the expense of not having a slot load DVD, no pc card slot (has the express slot instead), and faster GPU.
Unless you are big into games, the HP should meet all your needs.

Wayne

PS The dv6040us is the model with the TL-52, 2G ram, lightscribe super multi DVD drive, brightview, 802.11b/g, and includes the remote as well.

Aye it appears ur pics will not help much as the case varies depending on processor.
As Im looking at C2D's it may change.
It says firewire but cant see any pics of one.
Checked that manual u talked bout, some versions have hdmi !!!!!!!
Nowhere in manual does say nething bout grafix card which I would want to upgrade to dx10 when it comes out.
Battery of 2.5(6)/5(12) I can live with.
Also says no gigabit ethernet wtf???

Gigabit ethernet is standard on the dv6040us, as is firewire (4 pin like most PCs, not 5 like apple, so the device will need its own power), and finally, the graphic card, which is really a GPU - notebooks normally do not have cards in them, with just a few exceptions, and those that do, the cards are often more than it is worth. As for dx10, what works remains to be seen. Some GPUs will need a new driver, while others flat out will not work. The 7200 is not a 3D powerhouse (due to the 192M shared memory), but is Vista compliant and certainly better than the Intel 95x series, and on par with the lower end ATI cards (nVidia drivers seem better though).

I could live without lightscribe as I have a DVD/CD pinter (Cannon) And although a webcam is a must, I could live w/ vga res's But no gigabit ethernet could be the killer....doh Thanks GUYS!!!! May just wait for DX10 cards to hit now
