Selecting crucial RAM for my IBM, confused

Ok, I ordered the T41p, specifically it has model #:

2373GEU

However on Crucial's site, they list the T41p as model type as 2379, not 2373.

They do have memory that has a type of 2373, but next to it they mark it as being for the T41 and the T40p.

So which is correct, the type # or the Model name?

I believe all the T41s regardless of type listed use the same ram. Non partiy PC2700

How much RAM did you order and what are you gonna do with the 512 that came with the machine? Sell it?

I am getting 2 1GB chips, which will displace the 512 that came with it as you noted. I guess I'll try to sell it. Where would be a good place to sell it? Ebay maybe?

Finding 1GB chips for this THinkpad is harder than you think. Crucial is now out of stock on these, damnit..

I really want these asap.

Kingston sells 1GB chips for this model but they are $80 more per chip than Crucial. Asside from price, is there any thing worse or better about Kingston for this purpose?

Have you tried OEMPCWORLD before. I've only used them once lately and did not have any problems

Ok, but their resellerratings score is pretty damn low. Who makes the memory they sell, that I can't figure out.

It is either a new company or reorganized one. It only can on the sceen in Sept or Oct 2003. It looks like they had problems starting out so they have a bad reseller rating but have improved lately. I looked on the memory I got from them to find out who they buy from. It is Unifosa Corp. A lot of PC compaines use them but can't speak about the quality since I've only had the memory for 1 month.

Not to be difficult, but what exactly do you do that requires so much RAM? I have 2x 512MB in my T41P with the page file off, and I've played the "Let's see if I can open every program I have" game and still barely topped off at a little over 600MB...?

io_burn, 2 main things that need the extra ram, one being 3d modelling/animation with Softimage XSI and Houdini, the other being real-time 3D game development.

Ahh, well, I stand corrected.
