has anyone reviewed that notebook yet (link). Looks like a beast. The res on monitor is ok (I usually use 1024*768 on my desktop anyway). I noticed that HDMI port, I wonder if it is HDCP enabled to help with high def content. It doesnt come with a hd drive but external isnt to far off. I dont belive that 2.5 hours battery life. Prob more like 1:45 to 2 hrs. Cram a dang 12 cell battery in that bad boy for petes sakes :-)
Nice find joost, just like you I need to find a review.

I work in a computer store so I get first hand on new models but this was the first I saw about this model.
and indeed the battery would be more like 1,5h
also I do not really like the backlighting on 17" screens, for me it would have been nicer in a 15.4"

Hello, I own this notebook (Aspire 9513WSMi Gamer - different CPU) and it is really nice piece of hardware. Especially video performance is incredible. I bought it in Czech republic and price was about 60 000Kc (= 2600$) . Here is a review with some photos and benchmarks, but in czech language http://notebook.cz/__/,clanky,recenz...smi,index.html and here is benchmark page http://notebook.cz/__/,body_testy.html

Yours is even better!! T2400, 2gb ram,... damm nice laptop!!!
I bet F.E.A.R would run just fine on this one!

Yeah, fantastic engine, especially for games :-) I didn't try F.E.A.R, but with 3D Mark 2005, after nVidia manual overclocking feature, I got about 7500 points. Really nice value :-) Well, some of these 9510 series notebooks have integrated TV tuner, but have less powerful graphics card nVidia 7600 with 256MB. Another nice feature is ability of instalation two hard drive, which can run in RAID. My unit has slot-in DVD-RAM, but some models have HD-DVD. Batery life is about 2 hour, when I intensive browse Internet. Weight is relatively fairly - notebook has 17" display, keyboard with numeric part. This can not be compared with my last Aspire 1712SMi with 7 kg :-)

gootchick, your lucky hehe. I have noticed that most of my search reviews for this laptop are not in english (thanks for some links). I hope Acer brings that price down a bit for me. My truck cost less then that :-) and I,ve had that for over 3 years. I hope Acer has landed some good quality in this one. Time to save up.

Well, I made a decision between 17" inches notebooks with CoreDuo - Acer Aspire 5913, Toshiba Satellite P100-222 and HP nx9420 ES446. The price was the same, and my winner had more memory, better video card and built-in webcamera. Toshiba and HP had faster CPU. Build quality is better in compare with my last notebook Acer Aspire 1712, but case is still plastic. Maybe Acer will release Ferarri edition of this unit with carbon fiber case :-)

They could have at least used a WUXGA in that beast...

I am planning on buyng this notebook as soon as the core 2 duo comes, but...
Can you install the second HDD yourself?
Or I need to choose the version where it is already preinstalled?
The bad thing is that version with 2 HDD has only GF 7600.

Notebooks with core 2 duo will be available soon, Acer website has some information about Acer 9520 series. I think, that you can install second HDD yourself, but I don't know what happen with your warranty :-) . Official acer service will be in this case more suitable way. So if you prefer game performance and not need integrated TV Tuner (you can buy external unit), go to version with 7900GS.
