E1705 Sharp screen is bad

Thread Starter
Well I have had my laptop for about 24 hours now and I have noticed a problem with the screen. First off I have the SHP131C screen. Here are my problems so far:

- Light bleed on bottom 1/4in of screen. Especially noticable with black screen.

- Light bending. While looking at the screen, other parts apear darker than what your looking at. If follows wherever you look on the screen.

-Dead pixel.

-If there is a bunch of text on the screen(like reading forums), the screen will flicker for an instant a couple times a minute. It drives me nuts when I am reading text.

The good news is that Dell is sending a tech to replace the screen in the next couple of days. I requested the LG screen but he could not guarantee it

I have the same SHP13C1 screen.

I have bottom 2 dark corners and little lige bleeding on the very bottom of the screen.

I have light bending too but if I turn the lightness to max and wait for few seconds it'll gone.

I have NO dead pixel.

I also saw the screen flicker, but only couple of times, not constantly.

Sounds like you need your LCD replaced.

I have a sharp screen and so far my complaints are the sparkle effect and the light bleeding is a major annoyance when watching movies because the bottom black bar appears grayish.

I have some light leakage at bottom of screen as well. Could you please tell me to find info on screen manufacture?

Go to System > Device Manager > Monitors > right click Plug and Play Monitor > choose Details tab

should show you something like this:
DISPLAY\SHP13C1\5&31444433&4&433434

I have a 1/4 inch border of leakage on all four sides of the screen... is this truly light leakage or normal?

I just recieved my E1705 and what I noticed so far:
Slight light leakage near bottom and a tad at the top. Not too much so not a huge deal
No dead pixels
Bottom two corners are discolored (slightly darkened) and somewhat distract (someone please give me some information on this
No sparkle

Issues:
The "NOT AN INVOICE" config papers state the notebook has a Samsung display, after checking I see LPL (meaning it is a LG display).

The product key on the bottom was slightly "tore" down the middle, as if it was scratched with a fingernail and is simply paper. Quality Most product keys for WinXP that I see are plastic laminate type and don't know if this is normal (my first dell). Secondly after doing some system info hacking the product key included is not the same key that is installed currently. Installed XJM... sticker W7K... normal?

Only issue I have at the moment is the discoloring at the bottom other than that everything seems perfect and sort of happy it is a LG panel instead.

I have the 3155 on mine I'm not sure what make this is, however I have the XPS M1710 now so I'm not entirely sure.

The key is normal. All "Dell Oem" installations share the same key, that's why you're not prompted for it when you install the OS from the Dell CD. I have verified this on a few Dell laptops I've owned.

If you were to reinstall from a regular non-dell XP installation CD, then the key off your label would work to activate it.

I may be wrong but I have read quite a bit on this forum that the 3155 is a Samsung....
