Slow Trackpad with 8204

Anyone think their trackpad is slow?

I have it set at the fastest speed in the control panel but it still seems a bit sluggish. When I plug in an external mouse, the pointer zips around way too fast - as it should!

I have disabled the Synaptics software that doesn't help much... a little but not much. Changed the screen resolution, helped but not much. Disabled Acer Software...helped a little. But all in all the darn trackpad is slow! What do I do?

Is it just my laptop, or is this the same for everyone? Other than this one annoying issue I love my 8204.

what about updating to the latest Synaptic driver?

Did that.

I guess the question is... if you connect a mouse, does it travel at the same speed as the trackpad? Maybe my track pad is defective?

not necesseraly, u might want to play with the acceleration in combination with the precision and see, it could be related on the surface type of the laptop as well

I have the same issue - very frustrating!!
I have tried updating the driver both for the touch-pad and for my Logitech bluetooth mouse without luck!

I do also have another issue with it.
I have two users on my WinXP Pro installation, and one has to increase speed and acceleration for the pad at every log-on!

I'll keep you informed if I should find a workaround, and hope You'll do the same.

Greetings

I think it is the Acer software slowing the trackpad down. When I removed the Acer software things sped up. I think the trackpad driver is generally slower than a mouse though. Because for the trackpad I put it at top speed and it is fine. With a mouse, it's wayyyy to fast.

So my solution: Delete or uninstall any of the Acer software you find on your hard drive. That should help. You can always reinstall it.

Mouse problem persists, but screen went brighter

Thank you for the brilliant advice!
- It didn't solve the mouse problem, but I am almost certain that my screen went brighter!!

PS. I left the Acer ePower management, because I really need a GFX and CPU throttling feature.

BTW. Logitech software was responsible for resetting the speed/acceleration at log-on.

Ha ha! I kid you not, based on my experience: If you have ANY Acer software on the computer, it will slow the trackpad! I don't know why, but it just seems like it's all or nothing. Not only does the Acer software slow the trackpad, but I always get extreme bloating in my system Temp folder! After a few days there is like 26Gigs of Acr temp files! Once I delete and uninstall the Acer stuff... no problem.
