atheros super g locks up my di-624

Anyone else have problems with their Aurora m7700a (which has the Atheros super g) locking up their D-Link DI-624 router? It'll work for a few minutes when I download or view streaming video, but then it'll disconnect and lock up the router and I have to reboot the router; i.e. router won't respond at all to wired or wireless. The DI-624 is rev.E firmware 5, WPA PSK ch6.
I have a Dell laptop with the Intel 2200BG wireless and it has no problems with the DI-624. Any ideas out there for this situation?

That's very strange. I've heard of signal loss with particular routers, but not the router locking up...

I do recall while investigating MIMO cards and routers seeing that some MIMO hardware doesn't play nice with regular g band stuff, especially when you mix the two in similar environments. I gues the Atheros super g uses channel bonding or some such technology that can cause issues if you've got a mixed network.

Are you running both systems at the same time?

And I hate to say it, but I have a DI-604 that I absolutely hate. Bad router, bad support. They actually told me not to email them after I asked why I couldn't update the firmware. Thier website wasn't working and they refused to deal with it.

I emailed them for the firmware update, they sent me a dead link. I emailed them to say the link was dead and they said if it's not available on the link, it's not available. They finished that email by requesting I not email them again.

D-Link can blow me.

Hammerhead: I ran both together and with just the m7700 and in both cases the router would lock. I tried it with a Netgear WGR614 (duno which chip) at my friend's place and no problems there. He also has a Dell laptop with the Intel 2200BG. I read that D-Link uses the AR5002 in the DI-624, but I don't know which Atheros chip is in the m7700a.

I think the Netgear uses the airgo chipset, it's one of the routers I'm looking at for my m9700.

I'm at a loss here, I don't know much about wireless myself. Have you gone to D-Link's website and looked for a forum or FAQ? It might just be the router doesn't like your card...

I just did a quick google search and it looks like several people are having similar issues. Also seems to be an issue with cell phones that operate at 2.4 GHz.Have you loaded the latest firmware for that router? Switch from b to g band?

Here's the page to find the latest firmware...

I'm seeing some people say to use atheros drivers instead of the D-link drivers, so if you can find a chipset driver for the atheros chipset you might try that. It sounds like it might be the D-Link drivers or firmware in the router that isn't up to snuff...

Can you change frequencies or channels on the router?

I wonder if there isn't a newer driver for the wireless card in the AW...

Mine is the rev E and there doesn't seem to be any downloads for it on the D-Link site. I just sent tech support an email and will let you know what they say. I haven't tried dropping it to 802.11b since it sort of defeats the purpose of having a 802.11g, but I'll try it later tonight.

Upate. D-link tech support wasn't very helpful as they suggested trying general things that I've already done. Switching channels didn't help any either, but I did disable Super G on the Atheros wireless card and now it seems to work fine. I guess the articles about Atheros chips not running Super G reliably are true. Thank you for your input, Hammerhead.

No problem Rick, sorry we couldn't find a solution.

I'm through with D-link, I liked their old desktop nic cards, but I've had problems with my D-link routers, and their support is dreadful.
