Disabling/overriding the display auto-dim feature (when unplugged) in Thinkpads

I have a new t-60 and want to know if there is there any way possible to override the so-called "feature" that automatically dims the display when the laptop is unplugged. I have set the power options so that the display is supposed to remain at full brightness but there is something that is auto-dimming the display when it gets unplugged. I looked on the IBM site and they say that "Note: Some ThinkPad LCDs will automatically dim when AC Power is unplugged. This is to save battery power and is normal." Any ideas?

Yep, you can set that in the bios.

Not necessary to use the Bios

Hit your Access IBM button. (May be label differently on the T60)
Select "Configure" menu.
Manage your display
LCD Display Settings
Change Brightness to "High" when running on batteries.

That should do it.

Nooorm - Actually I had tried that but even though the setting was at "high" for running on batteries it would still dim one level when I unplugged it. That's what was so annoying.

asspenny - I did what you said and changed it in the BIOS and that did the trick! Thanks for the tip!
