If your going to download stuff overnight, then I would recommend lowering you power management settings (Press the empower button and go to the power management settings) to help with heat and life of your computer. Also there you can set your monitor settings to set it to turn off at a certain time.
If your laptop has an ati 1400 card then Oblivion may run low settings with some decent medium settings at 1024*768 res. The x1600 will be able to handle most medium settings (less shadow quality) and maybe some high settings. It a very configurable game just play with settings sliders and find a sweet spot. 1024*768 seems to be the best res for framerate and quality.
In terms of unplugging it or not well depends on what your doing. Playing a game or video/graphic editing, you better keep it plugged in. Playing a DVD unplugged netted me 1:45 to 2:00 with battery saver settings. (monitor brightness will also effect that.
Unplugged is best for only web browsing, music, word [remember to save just incase :-)] and other light duddy apps.
Enjoy your acer and keep reading in this forum, you'll stumble on a wealth of great info. Happy gaming :-)

I would say you could game for a year at least. That said your graphical settings will get progresively lower to keep a decent frame rate. For the price (this laptop usually around $1000-1100 US dollars), its a good trade off for low price and good graphics for a while. Its better then spending 2000 on a laptop with a similar graphics card IMHO.
I would recomend a laptop cooler when your gaming to help keep it cool. When using word or just browsing/ downloading on the internet, I would keep those cpu and gpu clock settings low. You dont have to do it all the time. To me changing those settings can become tedious, but it will help keep you laptop cool and help it last longer.
Ohh yeah dont cover up the fan port on the underside of the laptop. I read someone covered it up for a while when he had it set on maximum settings and he melt some of the bottom of his laptop. That sucks.

lol so can i put it on my lap or on a bed mattress while playing games? and the grpahic card will it last fer at least 4 years for games i mean doesnt have to be high can the game atleast run? hey can u ride a horse in oblivion LOOL cause iam thinkign of buying it can u fight from the horse and when you are battling can you see your whoel cahracter instead of just the sword. so there wont be any case of the laptop blowing up or jsut circuit shotfusing or just not working right?
