Well, my CX7 arrived late today, about 10 days after I was hoping for it, and a week after it was promised and I expected it.
The wait for cool stuff like this is always hard, but well worth it.
It is a gorgeous machine and like many others, I will do a thorough review as soon as I can.
I had an early scare - On startup, it went through the expected "Welcome to Windows" type screens, and when it said "OK, you're good to go" (or something like that), I clicked OK and the computer abruptly shut off.
It re-started fine and has been fine since, so I guess it was a fluke or something.
I've spent several hours installing and downloading various programs, etc. and have a lot to go. Documents, data, media, and all that "stuff" needs to be transferred too.
Initial experiments with the sound are encouraging, although many others have posted disappointment. The surround-ish effects are good, quality and level are good. Without it at full volume, I was able to get my wife to tell me to turn it down, so its as loud as I'm able to play it anyway.
(at least until she goes out shopping
)
While wider than my old Sony GRX670, it feels a bit lighter, I'm going to weigh them eventually to be sure.
I opted to go with the WSXGA screen instead of the WUXGA so it would be less hassle to properly display on a second monitor or projector, which I do frequently. My Sony has a UXGA screen which I love, but always have to re-size to do secondary displays right. The WSXGA is more than crisp enough, and I know the WUXGA is even better. Like my Sony, you can look at the screen from the most extreme angle without any problem.
I'll post more as I spend time getting to know my new machine.
