17"wuxga Screen Problems

Help!!!

I have an i9300 and my display is rapidly developing issues. Namely vertical lines of differint colors. It started about 4 hours ago with a single verticle red line and now there are two more, both blue. for a month or so prior to this there was a much wider bar on the display that was slightly less bright than the rest of it.... I tried taking the display cable out, cleaning both the male and female ends where it connects to the system board with 99% alcohol and reseating them.... it never fixed it. I'm now getting these lines and it is rapidly putting all of my hopes in this laptop down the drain -.- ... (note: it is not under warranty any longer) I need any suggestions you guys can throw out as to how to fix this problem short of buying a new ($400+) display for this thing. Is it possible to just buy a display cable? the only thing I can find is just the display. Below is an excerpt from the dell hardware information page showing the information on the dispaly I have. (I do not know if it is an LG or a samsung) Thanks all.

I am in the same boat as you man, my i9300 screen has the same lines on it too and my warranty also has expired........the first line to appear was the red 1 for me then a blue 1 popped up also......then a day later a light blue 1 did too.....
I dont know if you have been to this site but they handle dell pc parts...

but of course you might have to wait to find a lcd in stock.

Me too. Ebay looks like the best option, with WXGA for around $325 and WUXGA for $375 plus about $20 for shipping.

...But how long will those screens last?

I've been trying to find info on the actual manufacture of these screens. I'm looking to actually fix mine.
I have a matt WUXGA with no light leakage, and no dead pixels. I can't seem to find a suitable replacement. Glossy or wxga is not an option.

I don't have vertical lines, I have the whole bottom third fading in and out until I give the bezel a pinch in a particular spot.
But I suspect it's a similar problem, though.
Perhaps the rubber electrical contact strips they are using are shrinking with age and coming disconnected...I dunno.
Samsung replied to my inquiry with a form letter basically telling me to piss off.

I need to know if this could possibly be fixed at the level of the cable connecting it to the board, it is not worth the 400+ to buy a new screen. Please, anyone?
