Anyone else order a dv9000t?

I ordered a dv9000t a few weeks ago. It was supposed to ship on 9/08, but as of right now it's still in production. Does anyone else have one of these on order? If so is yours still delayed or did it ship on time? I am wondering if there's just a shortage of Core 2 Duo chips right now and that's the cause of the delay.

My CTO dv9000t was to be built on September 15th.
But it shipped out of China on the 14th and will be delivered on the 18th.

Good Luck,

I ordered mine late last Tuesday (Sep. 5) and it was supposed to be built by Sep. 15. I found and email this morning (Sep. 16) telling me that it has just been shipped. It also says that shipping will take 5-7 days.

Thanks for the replies. I called HP and asked about my order status and why I seemed to be one of only a few who haven't got their notebook yet. Well they couldn't give me any specific reason why my notebook hadn't been built yet, or a day that it would be shipping so I cancelled the order, I wasted a 10% off coupon on it but that's okay because with the price drop I'll save a few hundred dollars ordering it from costco if I decide to try HP out again.

My machine got delivered.

I missed the FedEx guy on Monday morning.
Signed for a drop-off, in case I missed him on Tuesday.

The dv9000 came through shipping in great shape.

Comparing the dv9000 to my old Sony Vaio:

General: Looks very good, the shiny plastic lid does show fingerprints. The lid latch is not as nice as the Sony, no issues with the touch pad.

LCD: Very nice LCD 1680x1050, no dead pixels, great viewing angles, very good color, contrast, text was a little small so I bumped it up to 120dpi.

Keyboard: Good feel, I like it, the number pad is great for me, the general layout and certain keys are going to be a learning thing.

Wireless: Wireless setup went smooth for wireless router and wireless print server. It does not seem to get as good reception as the Netgear card did on my Sony Vaio.

Software: I have not really had time to delete the stuff I don't want and install my stuff yet.

JJW

stuck pixel on my dv9000t

I received my dv9000t yesterday (Sept. 19, 2006) from the FedEx guy. It shipped from China.

I have one stuck pixel on my display (maybe two close to each other, but it is hard to tell). It is stuck on blue and I mainly see it when there is a dark background. Its located towards the bottom of the screen in the middle of the horizontal field. I tried some of the programs that may help unstick pixels, but so far they have not worked. I called HP and they said the warranty only covers against cases in which there are 14 or more stuck/bad pixels per square inch area. I still have 21 days to figure out if I will keep the notebook or return it for a refund (and maybe get another one).

I think I might just keep it and live with the single stuck pixel. I don't know how common stuck pixels are, but I'm afraid of getting another one with the same or worse problem. I found some useful info on stuck pixels by entering "stuck pixel" on Wikipedia. I believe the HP technical rep said that the manufacturing technology is only so good and that there is a certain precentage of displays that are always rejected. The links on Wikipedia appear to give the same idea, and one claimed that if every LCD screen were required to be perfect, it would drive up the prices enormously.

Do you think I should keep it with the single defective pixel?

Id say thats up to you. Personally, if Im spending 2+ grand, I expect perfection in my machine. Luckily, i ordered mine from Costco, so I can return mine no problems, no questions (for 6 months) if theres a problem.

The dv9000t I ordered was exactly the same as yours with the exception of:

Windows XP Media Center
Dual 80GB HDDs
17" BrightView Widescreen (1680x1050)

shipped

well it appears i have just recieved an e-mail that it shipped 5:58pm China time (which for me is 5:58 am) so i can expect it in 3-5 days or whatever, still a bit upset, so i wrote an e-mail to a supervisor explaining the lack of attention given to a $2000 order (no 2nd delay notice...just delayed twice..), needless to say it'll probrally get ignored.

DV9000z

I ordered my DV9000z a week ago.
They stated it will take 6 days after the shipdate to arrive.
Build date sept 28, ship date OCT2, ETA like OCT 6th.
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the video board in the near future on the DV9000Z, I have the NVIDIA 7600 GO 256 dedicated GPU board. I know the DV9000T has the option to add 512meg GPU board when u customize the laptop during ordering, didnt see this option for the DV9000Z, but if they are both modular GPU boards, i dont see why not .
ANy advice..

how are you finding those dual 12ogig hard drives thats a lot of space and i was thinking of using the same in my 9000. i was wondering how the hard drives work tho???? . do u select manualy wich one your wrok/downloads/games can be saved to or how do they wrok ??
Hey muzy,

I have two drives, and they work great. I think you can have them configured to work as a single drive, but I have mine set to work as two separate drives (C: and D. I usually install all working programs on the C: drive and all other data and documents I save to the D: drive. They are fairly speedy drives, but maybe 7200 rpm will be faster and result in better performance. I never tried the 7200 rpm so I don't know. I didn't want to fill my dual drives up (C: has 60 gigs left and D: has 75 gigs left) , so I have another 240 gig external drive (which is full).

Teabeef

that sounds like a great setup . i would probably do the same and keep the drives seperate and select seperatly when neede . thanks for that feedback very helpful . no doubt will be asking a lot more when it comes close to order time

is it me or have HP decided to discontinue the dv9000 series? due to vista release?

it seems uk retailers have stopped selling the dv9030, 9050 etc series..

i hope HP decided to jump ot a higher res 1680x for the 17" screen.

could be to launch a new line with teh release of vista. My cousin works teh electronics at Costco, he sadi that they have all new laptops to put out when vista is released.
