i9300 lcd has lines

My i9300 has developed line on the screen.......just happenes to go down not to soon after the warranty drops off of course... same with the battery but thats another story......

first was a red line i saw develop over night.....i tried reseatingthe cable and nothing, i hooked up a external monitor and no lines there so its not the 6800 either.......but as i sit here typing this i see a total of 3 lines....1 red closest to the right side of the screen followed by a blue line and then a much lighter blueto green line........

i find it odd that soon after my "year" warranty drops that this thing starts falling apart.....

anybody else have these same problems?

NOTE: Due to the Dell battery recal i at least don't have to pay for a new battery.....

Yes, this is becoming less of an "unusual" problem with the 9200-9400s.
-And the similar complaint is that it's right after the warranty expires!

few threads about the same problem. its like a cancer. 1, 2 now i have 3 lines. i think the whole row of pixels just die. odd thing was the last line was flickering on and off for a few days. now its perm. though.

I should have never bought a i9300 in the 1st place........should have took the hint about the shady lcd's when all the light leakage stuff was happening in the beginning.....

now i have 3 lines on my screen.....

my battery also crapped out on me too but at least on that front the recall aves me from spending over a hundred on a battery that wont last more than a year on a laptop that is going to die before the 2 year mark most likely....

Well at least i got my new battery in to replace the 1 that was bad due to the recall......now if Dell would only do a recall for all these shady lcd's they put out.......

I do admit that several of us having the same problem at the same time seems awfully suspicious. especially being "just" out of warranty more or less. -.- does ANYONE know if I can obtain a CABLE replacement from the display to the motherboard and try replacing that? Is there a particular reason why the cable cannot be the culprit here?

This has just happened to me. I have an XPS Gen2 fortunately, i have an extended warrenty. It started with a purple line on the right side so a tech came out an installed a new LCD. It was fine for about 3 day and now I have two lines one purple and the other yellow. I will be calling Dell back.

Nothing to be suspicious about, Dell has sold millions of these panels (over a hundred in my office alone). Electronic parts can and will fail. Since you can get up to a 4 year warranty it really would not be in Dell's best interest to build panels that fail at the end of one year.

Yes a cable is worth trying, call Dell spare parts and order one, I don't believe they are that expensive.

You can find the cables on Ebay.
There will never be a recall for these screens. Dell is not worried about a lawsuit, class action or singular, over bum screens. It's not like the thing can burst into flame and cook your testicals off.

Sounds like a bad flex cable. Its rather easy to replace as I just did out myself today when they sent an LCD replacement ( No Idea why it showed up at my door with my name on it ) Figure it would be nice to get a newer screen.
