Short Story even shorter. After talking with Reps for a couple nights six weeks ago I made the decision order a low end Thinkpad, Z61T Widescreen I believe it was. $600~ so at the lower end of what they offer, although it was primarily for a few assorted Univ things/Trips/Entertainment/etc and don't feel like dropping $1,000 on a Notebook just yet.
Anyways I ordered online via the Employee Center (just Discount, everything else is same) and waited. Shipping got delayed one week, then another, then another. I talked to the employee (he's fairly high up...really high up), he was going to pull some strings and see if I could get something similar like a C1000. He forgot to bring it up at work though so I waited a couple more weeks and then last night they cancelled.
Anyways, I thought it was Bullshit having me wait six weeks on an order (posted charge on my CC a well, although obviously didn't post through) just to cancel it or have me accept a refined TOS agreeing to an even longer delay
Anyways, I'm wondering if its possible to negotiate/barter with their reps on the phone? I'm talking coupon/discount wise. I've found a suiteable replacement laptop the R50, that's at $640 at basically the bare minimum comparable config (Although the core duo is a lot better then the Celeron M 360 I had :P), and so price difference is $60~ and wondering if their reps have any leeway.
I figure six weeks of delays might be worth some haggling cred with them.
