can Portege 3500 display 1440x900 on ext display

I have a Portege 3500 which i do developing on and i'm looking for wider screen real estate with an external LCD.

Will the 3500 display 1440 x 900 on the external monitor properly - i'm not interested in stretching another resolution to fit the screen, I want more pixels in width to fit the software i use.

Any info, greatly appreciated.

according to the specs, it can drive an external up to 1600x1200x64k resolution, so it all depends on ur monitor

yes, I have a CRT on it now and it does that resolution.

point is I wish to buy a Wide Screen LCD which has a native res. of 1440x900 - other resolutions are stretched to fit, causing the text etc. to be distorted.

does anyone know if the Trident Cyberblade video card that came with the 3500 supports 1440x900 or has an updated driver to support that resolution?

Most definitely no.

Your video chipset only supports 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions only (5:4 AR in 1280x1024). Further, your video hardware is not capable of displaying any widescreen (i.e. 10:6 AR) resolution, regardless of what driver you could possibly find.

ok, thanks - guess i'll go the 2 x 17" on a side by side lcd arm instead
