Move over iPod... And it has 802.11b and a FM Tuner - UPDATE! - Page 3

I hope someone hacks the firmware in a manner that allows you to send as much music for as long as you want to whoever. Are they seriously limiting you to send music your own music (ie what you ripped from your own CDs) for three plays?!
It seems the mp3 player has climaxed, now all we see are new gimicks- video, internet and such.
I own a Zen Xtra 40 GB, does what it was designed to do so well, and it's very cheap to fix (you can do most repairs yourself, and the battery is removable).

A final thought on the Zune...brown...risque!

i've been to the website, but i just wanted to know if it has any problems, stabilitywise, with the ipod video...assuming you have the ipod video.
I've had phenominal success with the ipod video and rockbox. I am having issues with the nano... I think I need to update the bootloader. I haven't updated my iaudio x5 in a while, but the build I'm running on that dap has some serious battery issues.

Stability is impressive with the ipod video. Maybe once every 3 or 4 months I have to do a reset- but I use it every day. I'm also running the latest cvs builds which are, by definition, unstable.

The only minor issue is getting the bootloader installed isn't exactly a brainless process. I had it running in less than 5min, but some people may have issues. Oh, I should also mention that scrolling through the artists can be a little slow as there's no accelleration yet. I don't have an enormous artist list so it's not a huge deal for me.

Couple suggestions... Make sure you try out a bunch of themes and download the font pack... some themes will looked messed up if you don't have the fonts.

Looks like a POS to me. Horrible design and the name is not original at all. "Lets add a Z!" I zunes? I'm suprised apple doesn't sue them for that. They are making way to many all in one devices which are not as good as dedicated device.

No actually it would have been Desotyed if I didn't take it. Perhaps I should destroy it myself if it makes you feel better. It really wouldn't bother me either way. Got that Straight through your thick stupid-ass head? It's called RElocation and Clearing out a Lost & Found Section. We ended up throwing away alot of Clothes as well, Sweaters, Jackets ETc. Prolly should have donated them but that's just what happens.

I have a bunch of music in ogg vorbis too, on my laptop external drive, because its easier to take that than a bunch of music cds. Interested to hear reviews and other recommendations for ogg compatible portable music players. Ones that don't lock you down to one store or one format. (Should probably be a separate thread).

Touchscreen Ipod?

According the the U.S. patent office, apple possibly has plan for a touch screen ipod in the futre. http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...le&RS=AN/Apple What do you guys think?

Quote:
An electronic device has a display and has a touch sensitive bezel surrounding the display. Areas on the bezel are designated for controls used to operate the electronic device. Visual guides corresponding to the controls are displayed on the display adjacent the areas of the bezel designated for the controls. Touch data is generated by the bezel when a user touches an area of the bezel. The device determines which of the controls has been selected based on which designated area is associated with the touch data from the bezel. The device then initiates the determined control. The device can have a sensor for determining the orientation of the device. Based on the orientation, the device can alter the areas designated on the bezel for the controls and can alter the location of the visual guides for the display so that they match the altered areas on the bezel.
