Kubuntu 6.06 install problem

I installed Kubuntu today and after getting everything up and running when I log into XP it tells me that my page file is not turned on or is to small. So I checked it and its turned off. So I set it to "Let Windows Manage" and rebooted. Logged back into XP its still off. WTF So I then manually set the page file to 254megs min and 1024megs max reboot go into windows and its still turned off. Also every time I boot to windows from grub it wants to run check disk. I let it run and nothing is wrong with the disk so it reboots. But every other time I boot it wants to run the check disk program again, and my page file still wont work it just stays at zero. What can I do to fix it?

Heh unfortunatly I run out of ideas on that VERY quick

I would need to think about it a while, but you are talking about a registry setting being reset there I believe(Confirmation?). Now I know when Windows boots it looks at the current registry file and tries to determine if it is corrupt or not, if it is, it uses a backup of the last known good boot. That is about the only thing I could think of causing this, if windows somehow thinks the registry file is corrupted, but that should be done in normal use, possibly if you have Wine installed in linux and set up to use your windows partition, but even then I THINK(Again confirmation?) that wine uses its own internal registry and doesnt depend on the windows registry, so that shouldnt be causing that.

yeah i am pretty damn clueless about this... first time i ever heard of something like this happening. perhaps maybe running a registry cleaner of some sort should remove the errors you're getting, but no guarantee on anything.

Thanks guys. I ended up re formating the hard drive AGAIN after I had reloaded all my programs and files. F**K! But this time I setup the partitions with windows 50 gigs for XP 7 gigs for linux and 1 gig for the linux swap file reinstalled everything and it worked but I had to reinstall windows office and all my other crap. I have no idea how it happened everything was working great but when I installed kubuntu that first time it messed up. Who knows but it works now so thanks anyways.
