Buy m1710 now or wait for dx10?

Hello everyone. I spent days agonizing between purchasing a dell m1710 or an alienwares m9700. I decided to go with the dell, but now I have a new problem. I've read a few posts about dx10 and its supposed greatness. My question is pretty simple. Is it stupid for me to go ahead and buy an m1710 for the 3k or so that it'll cost to get a decently loaded one with dx10 around the corner? Is there any chance that I'll be able to purchase a dx10 card as an upgrade for it? I do really need a new laptop, but I don't want to be pissed two months after I get it Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

who knows maybe a DX10 card might be able to fit in the M1710???

If you need a notebook now, then buy one. If you want to wait for newer technology, then you will never purchase a notebook. Everytime something new comes out, a newer thing will replace it in matter of months so there is really no way you can have the "latest" without getting a new notebook / pc every x month.
If I were you, I would just purchase one and think to yourself that you had the best technology you could get and not worry about it anymore.

well it somewhere in the 1st 1/4 of 2007 before it comes out.

possibly 2nd 1/4,

So if your willing to wait that long go for it.

long story short even with DX 10 cards out there how many games will be supporting for atleast the first year and then how many revisions will be out within that year. we are on DX9c and the only reason they stopped there was because of Vista. So as with anything else I won't be adopting vista or DX10 for atleast the first year, and you guys know how fast I change my laptops
