The Aurora M9700 the same as the Aurora 3500 Desktop? exept the fact one is a laptop, the other one is a desktop?

Also...I LOVE to game, but I like the idea of taking my gaming anywhere I go. But I hear desktops have generally less problems in the long hall as laptops go..is this true?

I don't NEED to have a laptop to carry around places, but its kinda cool to take it down wherever I go.

I have a 1 hour car drive each way on sundays and wendsays. thats basically the only time id ever leave my house with the laptop/vs./desktop ratio..

WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET?!?!?!!?!!?!?!?!?!

Is the 9700 modle just as good in reliabilty as a desktop (I KNOW i've asked this many times! I'm just hoping for one person to answer lol)

Dude have you asked yourself why you need a laptop? I seriously WHY do you need a laptop or a new desktop?

The laptop might perform just as good as a desktop but you need to remember when the thing is depending on the battery the ablity of the system is cut by half.

Another thing the desktop is far more easier too work on if there is a problem then a lappy IMO.

Well... The turion 64 2.4G is basically an athlon chip setup for mobile application. I've read the 2.4G is approximately equal to the 3500+ - 3700+ desktop processor.

With desktops, they don't have to worry as much about compactness or efficiency due to the room, and huge power supplies in the desktop cases. My current desktop has a 480W supply while I think the m9700 runs off 150W AC adapter.

I've got the 2.4G turion with dual 7900gs's, and my 3dMark05 score out of the box was 9880. With overclocking, I got up to 11,000 though I wouldn't recommend overclocking any laptop. Another member here, Shazza, said in my string about the m9700 that I was getting the scores her FX-55/dual 7800gtx in SLI desktop gets.

I would say if you don't need a laptop or mobility, get a desktop. They're cheaper, cool better and don't have as many problems. The laptops are convenient to take places or move around the house, but the screens are attached to the base, as is the keyboard so it can be difficult to use comfortably. You can use an external mouse and keyboard if you want though. I game on it with a Belkin n50 nostromo and mouse, so I don't use the keyboard while gaming.

I'm using my laptop now as my principal rig due to it's performance, but as soon as vista and dx10 are out and stable I'll be getting another desktop for gaming. I'm also remodelling my house so the laptop takes up less room and I can move it around easier.

As for the reliability of the m9700, nobody knows yet as they're new, but I've not had a single issue with mine since it arrived. No reboots or errors whatsoever, and I've been pushing it pretty hard.
