i've not heard any problem with the sentia, it's only 802.11b tho. Have connected peer-to-peer at 11Mbs but will be installing my 54g wireless at home tonight so will find out later.

No it's not the same.

The card is different. Intel 2100
The Antenna is routed to the LCD. Confirmed by Uniwill the ODM

I have tested many wireless products and find that the Intel 2100 works very well in terms of signal and transfer speed.

I have not had any wireless problems with my Sentia. My router is in the basement of our 2 story house and I get excellent signal even in my room on the 2nd floor. I've also taken it outside to see how it preforms. I can get about 30-40yds before I loose signal.

Honestly though, the wireless card is great in the Sentia.

oh ok.. so the intel 2100 is purely 802.11b while the 2200 is b and g?

YES

The option for 802.11g should be available for the Sentia soon

51m2 had bad card and antenna, nothing 2 do w/ case or paint.

2100 works like a champ.

The case may be the problem. I read some tests that showed magnesium blocks the signal considerably. If the antenna of the Area-51m2 is under the case constructed of the magnesium alloy then it is a problm. I believe it would be better for the wireless signal if the antenna is routed to the LCD.

The Intel 2100 works so well for Archalien that he is desperately looking for some way to use the PC card slot.

My 2 top choices:
Blue tooth
Flash card reader

I use the slot for testing other wireless cards which I still do for my former employer. Or if I need the extra signal strength of a 200mW card for true wardriving. For home and office use, the Intel 2100 works flawlessly.

I've been having problems with my wireless car - but could be the access point as its all new stuff. I keep getting drop-outs and the only way to sustain a good connection is to have the laptop sitting next to the AP (pointless). If I move the laptop away the signal drops to poor and even disconnects. this is with a direct line of sight with the ap about 2 meters away.

and when i've got a signal i watch it jump from excellent to poor to excellent to poor ...

Try repositioning the access point. Also make sure that the antennas are securely screwed on in the back and are pointing upwards. It sounds to me like there may be something wrong with the antennas or the power throughput on your AP.

Thanks for that info, I'll try a different channel and then give linksys support a call. i also bought a usb linksys adapter and the dropouts occur on that too so i guess it's not the sentia at fault.

just wish i had more time atm to play with this stuff to get it fixed.

Different channels may be the problem. My cordless which is 2.4 ghz intereferes with some channels of my AP.

I have a logitech cordless but I've gone throught every channel 1-11 and still no better LinkSys said the device is faulty, but I'm going to send the linksys kit back and buy another make. Will be trying an ad-hoc connection with a friends dell this week, hopefully this wont show the same behaviour as the linksys kit.
