It (the bios) doesn't recognize any hard drives I install. When I run Dells diagnostics tool I get a DST Short Fail with an error coded. A quick search online tells me this code means the drive or motherboard needs replacing. Considering I tried two drives Im assuming its the motherboard.
The drives slide in with zero friction. Someone on Dells website suggested that I left off the drive adapter that goes on the pins. Is there such a beast? I can't find any info on it. I thought you just installed drive in caddy and stuck it in the drive bay. If anyone has a 9300 could you pop out your hard drive and tell me what you see. I see the male pins on the drive and if I look inside the drive bay with a flashlight I see a rectangular interface with an empty concave horizontal slot with what looks like pin holes surrounding it. It doesn't look like a normal ide interface like you would see on a desktop motherboard ide cable.
