M1710 A02 BIOS - report here when found...

Thread Starter
I'm waiting eagerly for the A02 BIOS for the M1710, with full support for the Core 2 Duo. It seems people have started getting their M1710 C2D machines, with A02 pre-installed, so hopefully someone can back up their BIOS. Or Dell can get their act together and release it...

Edit: found!

Yeah i'm waiting eagerly as well. Rang Dell last night again asking for it they said you just have to wait for the official release by Dell, from what i gathered there waiting for the official release by Intel to release the merom to the public as of yet you still can't purchase the chip only, but you can buy it pre-installed on a laptop. As for backing up the bios i'm sure some smart person will figure it out on how to back up the bios. It's pretty hard and your normal user can't do it.

i'll do it this week if I can find my utility...

Why not the A03 Bios?

A03 for 1705 = A02 for M1710. I think the 1705 is one version ahead of the 1710.

WIll Dell let me pay them to upgrade to a core 2 from the processor I have in my m1710 currently?

Dell told me they don't perform upgrades. I don't know if they even sell the processor. I think the best bet is to buy somewhere else and install it yourself - it'll be cheaper. Or get a local computer shop to do it for you...

I'm also waiting for the new BIOS, installed my new T7600 and I always get this anoying CPU failure message when booting...but as far as I tested the CPU is already faster though without having a new BIOS for example I get 10700 3DMark05 points instead of 10125 with my T2600...

umm, you can download the BIOS from support.dell.com....I updated mine over the weekend, since im going to buy a C2D as soon as the 2.66GHz model comes out
post #11 of 53
Where, I think that a lot of us are checking there every day?
I check at www.dell.com and click on the support link and then go to driver downloads and it is still at version A01. If you know something that we don't, please share.

probably need ppl that purchase the new M1710 to make a BIO backup
post #16 of 53
There is no way to backup the bios on these systems. The only place you'll get it is from Dell when it comes out.
