Replacing PCG-FR315S dvd drive?!!

What can i replace it with, as i do not want to shell out on the same crap sony one that likes breaking. What exactly will fit? thanks guys+gals
currently got dw-u50a i think.

u can replace it with any slimline optical drive fitting 12.8 cm x 12.6 cm x 1.3 cm
but why? that model is a very good one, is it dead?

yeah i bought the laptop off ebay. it has been faulty for a year on and off and it has turned into the most tempremental drive ever, sometime it plays dvd's, then cuts out halfway thru, othertimes, doesn't recongnise them at all, oanother thing is that it doesn't show recordable dvd's as dvds, it shows them as cd-r. and it now pretty much won't read any of the dvd's that i write. so that sucks truely.
but any drive of the right size will fit you say? cool

i would try to update the driver & firmware if it is available before writing this optical drive off
if u buy new one, the face plate might need some adjustment if it is not coming from sony stock
