After reading these forums for a little bit and looking at the rules and (hoping I'm observing all of them when I write), I want to trade my desktop computer for a laptop.
I've been looking at these three in order of my preference: Dell Precision M90, XPS M1710, Sony UX280p. I realize I poured a bit of my soul and lot of money (>_<) into my desktop, and I now realize a laptop would be more useful. I would like a Core 2 Duo version, and specs similar to these from Bal ' thzar's thread, but I don't need the warranties and that stuff. If a UX280p, then I want extra extended batteries.
If anyone is interested, you can e-mail me at ricera10@gmail.com, or ricera10@ricera10.com if it makes me more valid to you.
You can also call me at (630) - 907 - 5734 and ask for Eric Joyner if you want to know I exist.
Some background on me:
I attend IMSA, the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (www.imsa.edu). The phone number I list is my dorm room, so I am living mostly on my own. Don't hesitate to e-mail me, but if I can get communication beforehand we can use the phone. I'm trying to validate myself in as many ways as I can.
Specs:
AMD 3800+ X2
2 GB DDR2-675
Silverstone SG01 Evolution (SFF case)
ASUS M2NPV-VM (mATX motherboard)
Logitech MX518, G15 keyboard
250 GB Western Digital Caviar 16MB Cache
X-fi XtremeMusic
Matrix Orbital MX410 LCD Display (Not a monitor)
EVGA GeForce 7950GX2 (Oc'ed to 550/650 stable once, didn't want to risk it)
Windows XP Pro SP2
MS Office Small Business Edition 2003

The little white thing on top of my case is the DVD drive, it's connected through USB, but my motherboard has a firewire port so you can buy a firewire cable and boost transfer rates by ~10MB/sec. The screen rotates 90 if you need a vertical monitor and it makes it very easy to plug in stuff. Not shown, but I will also include a duffel bag that is specifically designed for that case and can hold everything there (including powerstrip, cords, external DVD drive), except the monitor. Also the box with all of the part and driver CDs, will be included, too.
I'm hesitant to trade the monitor, the Dell 2007FPW, because it was supposed to be good for me for if and when I get a laptop I can hook it up and see things better. A very convincing trade can make me give it up.
If you need more specific stuff, just contact me...

lol. No but seriously, you should consider adding a monitor or an LCD, or something if you want to do a straightup trade like that, especially for an M1710. Just to you know, complete your system.
