No Bios Found? Errors!!

Hi everyone,

Here is the issue I was getting the BSOD all of a sudden then finally after about 4 hours of trying to reinstall windows, change drives, ETC I finally was getting this message at boot up after the POST when it goes to read if a hard drive is there

NO BIOS INSTALLED

Now my question is how in the world did I loose it to begin with? Well I have my theories with my knowledge and there not good. How can I put the bios back on the system? What about a complete motherboard replacement? Where can I get a new motherboard? BTW I have a 7700 first model about 2 years ago now. What do I do at this point?

Thanks in advance guys for your help!!!

If the BIOS chip is a "plugable one"; then you can get a replacement from Sager (If they were the original seller). I had to do that with a 3600-Series about a year ago and it cost about $55 with the shipping (might have had to pay shipping seperate - just don't recall for certain). Another "thing" that might have gone awry is that the BIOS battery went dead. If that is suspected, get a new battery and install it (I don't know where that battery is located for the model you have).

Keep us posted. BTW - A motherboard replacement should not be required unless something more serious exists.

Hi everyone, well I flashed the bios so I no longer get that error. But as soon as windows goes to boot I get a BSOD and it flashes for a second and goes away. I am thinking there is an issue with the harddrive controller or harddrive driver somehow and I hope there is not a short on the motherboard causing this issue. i think in the end I may have to replace the motherboard and go from there. I will keep you guys informed as I make some type of progress trying to fix this issue. BTW during windows install can not see the drives even trying both driver versions.

Any thoughts guys?

Any thoughts guys?

You are using a USB Floppy to install the NON-RAID or RAID Drivers ?

well I switched to the PATA drive and still the same issue, I really think its a board issue again!!! does it with both SATA and PATA drives, oh and yes I have done both drivers from floppy using F6 during install, hmmm really stuck other than a board issue. Have flashed the BIOS several times and it works for about a half a boot up But I did get and error recently that I think has let me to believe there is that worm virus that does this to computers. As of right now it still is not working. Is the bios chip actually removable on this model D900t thanks again guys for all the reads and responses...

speaking of flashing the BIOS, anybody know how to flash the BIOS on the 7700 motherboard if it isn't even going through the POST routine? Is there a jack onboard to plug a handheld flasher into to flash it? I'm wondering if maybe a got a virus or something that wiped the BIOS and that's why mine isn't booting or even starting the sequence.

Plasma, http://www.rjtech.com/miva/merchant...._Code=MB-D900T has replacement mobo's for our lappies.
