I've been running some builds of Vista Beta on my desktop for a while now. Mainly Beta 2, but I just installed Vista RC1 on my desktop and I have it running ok. It's not the best cause I'm having problems with windows explorer running and IE7. Whenever I open up Photoshop it takes a big chunk out of my memory. That would never happen in Beta 2. I had the public Beta 2 and pre-RC1 Beta 2 and nether one of them did that.
The same thing happens with Windows Explorer too. Not on my C-drive, but my other hard drive. I have lots of files on my second HD and whenever i go into the HD, explorer takes a big chunk out of my memory and my CPU. Almost a 100% of my CPU. When I open up a folder in that 2nd HD, say the music folder which has a lot of files in it, the green bar at the top is very slow and takes forever to load. I can press the stop, little red X at the end and it will stop and cpu gets better, but that's the only way. BTW, it's a SATA HD, but so is my C-drive too. The memory chunk will also happen IE too.
I also just installed it on my Dell M1210 too. I noticed in the task manger that "dwm" (desktop windows manger) is taking up a large memory chunk. I can disable Aero and it will run much faster. Anyone else's RC1 running slow?
Also does anyone know where I can get some drivers for my Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy for my notebook?
