I want to see e1705 OVERCLOCKED go7900gs performance in oblivion

I have been reading up alot on the 7900gs and I am really interested in getting the e1705 witht he 7900. I've seen clocks at 640/1200, which im sure everyone knows but I would like to see the performance gain in games.

I havent (yet) found any benchmarks on the o/c 7900gs and it would be neat if someone can show me some increase in performance with the o/c on the card.

I know what the 3dmark scores should be around but what i want to know is the fps in games such as Oblivion and anything else. Also, the settings that are used and if you are still able to play the game with everything (most things) maxed out at 1024x768 and if it is alot smoother.

Some information would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not entirely sure if I would overclock the E1705's 7900 gs that's a single. To 650 mhz. That sounds a bit risky.

What are the chances of me getting a single? I dont know how that works out at getting a single or Dual-pipe.

9400 = Single pipe.
m1710 = dual pipe.

So I'd say it's 0 chance if you're getting a 9400.

You should be able to OC to 650MHz, although you may have to increase the core voltage. Personally my GS is running at 675/1200 and I don't have any artifacts, although I have the fans set to run maxed all the time and I applied arctic silver to my GPU.

I think the Overclocked E1705/9400 7900gs benchmark thread must have confused me. Those scores, I taken account that they were all from the E1705's which come with single pipe 7900's. But I also saw the dual pipes and im guessing now they are probably from the m1710.

Thanks for the info Reaver, whats your temps with the fan maxed and as5?
Also, how better is your gaming experiance with the o/c speeds

Is there anyway OC without burn a boot disk?

There was a huge impovement in gaming, mainly because I always play at 1920x1200. The idle temps are around 50-55C, gaming is 80-90C depending on the game.

I 2nd this, my E1705 runs Oblivion like a champ on stock settings. I opted for wxga+ so I'm "only" at 1440x900.

Hfikz: assuming you get the WUXGA screen you should be able to run it on the "ultra-high" setting at 1440x900 at the very least.

Thanks guys for the comments, makes me feel better about my purchase that I will do soon.

Yeah I was going to get a WUXGA screen, so I guess I can run it on 1440x900 and it will look beautiful with the ultra-high settings.

Now I cant wait to order the laptop.

Overvolt the core.

im thinking to flash the VBIOS, BUT can i flash the VBIOS back to orginal settings if i want ? go7900gs is clocked & locked at 375/500. how is it possible to OC the memory all the way up to ca 1100mhz, when it start from 500mhz ? sounds very much (have only OC go6800 to 380/760 (from 325/600))
and shouldnt the memory be 2 X the core ? (like 500/1000) to get the best result ?
does someone know WHY go7900gs is clocked & locked at (small) 375/500 ? when go7800 is clocked & locked at 400/550. can it maybe be that go7900gs have 4 more pipes then go7800, and that Nvidia for some reason locked the settings at 375/500 because the card didnt need more. i think it strange.

I had not even played Oblivion on my 7900gs till last week after getting rid of the machine that that the 7800 in it, and I was blown away on how playable it was. I have oc'd my card and had no problems with it at 610/615, ran very very nicely.... =) at 1920x1200..
