Sager vs. Hypersonic?? - Page 2

I configured my system at both PCT and Hyper.

Difference is that Hyper is $419 is higher and I won't have the subwoofer nor the "return" warrenty. Also, I'll have an older 6-in-1-reader rather than the newer 7-in-1-reader. Hyper also publishes a 3-4 week wait time.

Heinrich, I'm not sure what your point was here? You working for Hyper or something?

I see, instead of having a decent conversation amongst laptop enthusiasts to discuss issues and points of views we're going to try to discredit my discussions by attributing less than honorable motivations to my intentions?

Obviously, I am in the wrong forum. Although, judging by the dozens of other threads that I have been reading, maybe I'll wait a bit longer for some intelligent discussion as most of the threads here are quite good.

What? The GPU "footnote" (#3) does not tie in with any spacifications for any model and therefore is probably not available. Buyer-beware may be the order of the day. I think that Hypersonic is a reputable dealer; however, some of their presentations are not allways "up to snuff" - sometimes that happens with PC Torque; however, they quickly repair them so that any potential customer is not confused.

"Discredit your discussion"? No, not the case. Correction of things that were not true - Yes, that I did. If you think that Hypersonic will provide you the ability to upgrade the GPU on your own - go for it. I'd bet many in these forums would take that statement with a "bit of salt".

I still am wondering what the true point of your question was. Please restate it and maybe someone can help you. Not trying to "discredit you" or "smash/slam" you, despite the Bush comment (I suspect you can't vote for or against him - so it really doesn't matter).

Gerhard

Cheers.

Oddly enough, when I configured the exact same spec system, to my specs the hypersonic was only $70 dollars higher. Where is $419 coming from?

As far as the card reader who cares 6-in-1 or 7-in-1 card reader, I wish I could delete it and get a credit! Non-issue for most.

As far as the return warranty, they both stat 30 days no questions asked, so again what are you talking about?

I found them on pricewatch. Trick is to use search with appropriate nomenclature. For instance search on '6112'.

Let me know.
I got a call, but they had to specially authorize it and made it clear to me that certain memory might not work and that warranty issues related to the components I didn't order through them would not be covered. My biggest concern was the screen and Hypersonic has the best warranty for that.

Bills for indivudual parts are alot easier to get past the wife than one BIG lump sum. And lastly, I want to use the parts from my older laptops and eventually upgrade to the newer better parts (CDROM instead of DVD burner) and I already have two 60G 5400 RPM harddrives. The only thing that might not work is the RAM in which case I will purchase new RAM.

HoofHearted,

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping I wasn't the only one that received that call. I too have a pair of extra 60GB HD's and I purchased a pair of Apacer 512MB PC3200 back in Feb. which Hypersonic approved for my original NX6 order. I haven't heard anything back from them since 3/12 so I guess it's a non-issue now. Although, my order is now 2 days past the expected ship date. Let me know when yours ships.

Can you tell me how to reconcile these two posts?

There is nothing to reconcile - a silly offhanded remark of humor followed by continued personal, direct attacts and insults from a supposed veteran member. I guess it's initially my mistake by attempting to make a political joke from a stranger but the continued unwarranted and unreturned personal insults from G-Omaha detract from the community of this board and the allowance of these personal attacts lowers this entire forum's credibility.

personaly I would not have picked that route, well and I didn't... I did look at them... but then found some others more resonably priced that include my desired specifications with better warrenty in my opinion for lower cost minus paintjob... if you look at the warrenty ANY problems caused to thier product from a product not purchased through them will note be covered.... blah blah blah... plus they fail to reference what they consider to be internal parts, ie screen? and it even states that implied warrenty isn't valid... so in that case I would definately want a detailed warrenty set before me so that I would know exactly what they are covering...

just something to think about and maybe get answers to hmm?

have a good day, hope its a beauty for you....

Currently, I'm leaning towards Hypersonic, because of their CX6 model. THat is just a dream notebook to me. Processor speeds have never been a bottleneck in anything I do, and the PM processor seems to be so next generation- slim, light, low power consumption, and better performance. ANd the only reason I like the CX6 is because of Radeon 9700 + PM. You can't have one and not the other .

Exactly what do you mean by that?
Who makes their CX6? My wife wants a nice polite laptop (not the 8890) and I don't want to get a Dell. I was hoping to shop around for whoever makes their CX6.
Who makes the CX6? Like the base model? No clue. All I know is that Hypersonic makes the CX6 and sells it off it's website! www.hypersonic-pc.com.

PM= Pentium Mobile processor, another name for the Centrino technology.

The whole price argument I think you can work around. You can order a barebone (no memory hypersonic) and buy your own memory, and you can save quite a bit there. DVD burner, I will be getting the next generation of dual layered, so that's a waste of money to me. And... what else.. upgradeable GPU, and processor. Very wicked. Good warranty and policy, especially pixel. If you want the PERFECT system, you will most likely have to go for Hypersonic, cause you might get 1 dead pixel on a Sager and they won't do anything about it.

Anyhows, like I said, I'm waiting until the next Dothan processor with the higher front side bus comes out, with a whole new socket switch on the Alviso chipset. Or, if Windows 64 bit becomes popular, I may invest in an AMD-FX based notebook.
