Lenovo C100

Thread Starter
Some basic specs of the C100 I'm interested in purchasing are:
Celeron M 370(1.5GHz), 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 15in 1024x768 LCD, Intel GMA 900, CDRW/DVDRW, 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 10/100 Ethernet, touch pad, 8c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Home

What I want to know is whether the specs will suffice for the tasks I hope to be completing.
1. light gaming (highest requirements are 256MB RAM, 32MB graphics memory). If you must know, the game is warcraft 3, which I have heard that GMA 900 is enough to run the game at lower resolutions smoothly.

2. running MATLAB. I've never actually started using the program, but in a week or two, I'll start to write programs on it. I heard that heavier matrix calculations will require at least 1GB RAM, but I don't know how true that is.

3. just simple tasks like word-processing, surfing the web (with multiple windows open of course), watching movies, etc.

Basically, will this laptop satisfy my needs? And for MATLAB, will I need to upgrade to 1GB RAM?

Thanks guys.

I have a Lenovo c100 and it's working good! When you're not playing games it uses 9 MB of the system memory for graphics and when playing it uses 128MB. If you buy 1 more 512MB DDR2 memory stick it'll run on dual-chanel. It's just the celeron that's not the best. Other things are just 100% great. Bluetooth works fine, Broadcom wireless drive, 80GB Hitachi 8MB disc, Lenovo care & the recovery system, DVD-RW drive, about 5 hour battery, card reader, s-video, analog video, 4 usb, lenovo keyboard ... And most important .. it's allways cold

I tried playing AOE2, AOE3 and other games ..they work flawless.

I think it's a good buy and I don't regret it. I'll upgrade 512 MB ram for about 110$.
