The 7800GTX fits in the i9400/E1705 with some modding...
is there no way to get a 7900/7900GTX fit in a I9300?
nope (well it doesnt work in 9300/xps2 but it does fit with modding)...you can read a 40 page or so post about ppl still trying to put the 7900 into the XPS2/M170 if thats how you get your jollies...

Any places in chicago will install the 7800 GTX Go into my 9300? Is it even worth doing?
Its a custom job ...and it all depends on how much longer youre gonna use your 9300...http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...ight=9300+6800

Edit: here's the correct link

I have two questions, I've looked all throughout the forums and I can't find a straight answer. First, where does the Quadro 1500m fit? I've heard it's identical to the 7900GS, but I can't find a place that proves someone's experience.

Question number two, everyone keeps talking about "flashing the video card's BIOS". How is this possible? Is there any instructions out there?

Can i fit a Go 7950 GTX and upgrade the cpu to a CORE2DUO T7600Z, in my xps/2????
would it be possible with flashing or changing the PCI ID of the Go 7800 into the GTX to get the Inspiron 9300/XPS Gen 2 working properly?

You deserve rep and kudos for your efforts of contribution.

Well yeah.

hey guys sry to bring this thread back but does anyone know why the gen2/m170 wont work with the 79 series cards?

also anyone upgrade to the 7950gtx go?
bios support for the card...and while you may think "hey, the 9300 has a hacked bios that allows for more video cards", from what I think, the flashing utility is what was dissasembled to allow the xps2 bios to be flashed to the 9300...so the bios wasnt actually tampered with and using this method to flash a m1710 bios to a m170 just wouldnt be a good idea due to many hardware changes such as different HD's and connectors...keep in mind though that I've never performed a dell bios update since my machine has always been xps2 A05

this is a great post! i don't know why it is not stickied.
Its not 100% accurate...plus alot of good threads around here dont get the stick...there's probably at least 10-15 more threads worthy of a stick but then the forums would look kinda sloppy I suppose

I'd lke this to be a conclusive list of video cards that are compatible with the 17" + Dell line
Unfortunately, it isn't, and does not even summarize the thread let along other info.
