AOpen has released a new BIOS dated 3/05/2004. I know it's a day ahead but in Taiwan, it's already 3/05.

You can find it at http://download.aopen.com.tw/downloa...=BIOS&selpage=

Whoa...since this is in Taiwan, and is a day ahead, then if I download this an wormhole in the space-time continuum is instantenously opened....far out!

Now can someone tell me how to boot into DOS mode with WinXP Pro installed?

I don't have a floppy drive either so that's out...

Beats buying pot from the guys in Jamaica doesn't it?

The site doesn't say what this BIOS does/fixes. I dl'ed the file but there is no spec sheet, even though site implies that a PDF should be available. Think I'll wait to get more info before installing.

A side question: how do you export/backup the BIOS already installed in your machine?

Problem solved, found an old Win98 disk laying around

Will report on how the new BIOS works. I suspect this BIOS may add Dothan support.

Can you check to see if the new bios fixed the problem with the non-intel based wireless mini-pci cards? Thinking of getting this notebook, but this problem is a moot point for me, hopefully they will offer the intel pro 2200bg soon...

Nope, didn't fix the problem.

In fact, I discovered a wierd quirk. When using a 802.11b (Belkin) router, the touch pad stops working occasionally, once the network connection is disabled the touch pad works again! This problem hasn't surfaced when using a 802.11g router...talk about WIERD!
