Satellite A30 help

Thread Starter
I'm having an odd time with an A30 i've been given by work to fix (we normally run Acer lappys with less problems than the 2 Tosh rigs TBH)

The system will be running normally, but then the system locsk up, and the graphics on the screen become blocks of random colour. I've re-pasted the CPU as i figured it was a heat issue, but that has done absolutely nothing. I've also tried a different stick of RAM thinking it might be a stick gone bad (I hate IGP Graphics), but that hasn;t made a blind bit of difference.

This only seems to happen when the lappy gets warmed up. Not pulled the entire rig to bits yet (i'm _trying_ to avoid that), but if anyone has any ideas before i go any further would be much appreciated.

This happens if i'm in the BIOS or booted into XP. :\

Machine is a PSA30e-1896C-EN
2.8 P4 (Mobile i think)
256Mb of DDR2700

Not sure of the rest of the spec, it's refusing to run for more than 2 the bootup time atm.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help

If you have reseated the fan onto the CPU, there isn't much to do. (I am assuming you cleaned out any dust.) All I can suggest is to work on a hard surface and keep air space around the vents.

Fixed.

Nicked a 2.4Ghz 533FSB Processor out of another machine (e-mail server) and it's working perfectly. Now to buy a new box to use as a mail server!
