Dell agreed to replace my system :) - Page 2

Ask them to send you new memory, and install it yourself, the system you have is kick ass.

It is very strange that a complete new system has the same error ?
yep , same error as the previous system. This error due to many related hardware that even new memory won't work. Another user on notebookreview received new hdd, memory and things are still the same : BSOD MPError.

I dont' have a 7900GS with my system only ATI ( I HATE IT). at least CPU upgrade pleased me a little bit somehow. But the differences btw core 2 and core duo is about nothing much difference.

well, after arguing with dell several times, i could not get them to help me. Their support is terrible, i got transfered several times, hung up on... It was just a mess... But, the laptop is overnight shipping so it will be here tomorrow for me to test out. The only thing that was worse is the processor in terms of speed, as i mentioned before. I think it will be easier for me to argue if i actually ahve the system becuase their website has a form that i can fill out if i recieved the wrong exchange which i plan on doing. .. So we'll see.... Hopefully dell can sort this all out, plus im really hoping that ill get the core 2 duo, b/c i already know im guarenteed an e1705 with minimum dual core...

they rep might just laugh at you as yes its 1.73GHZ and your old one was a 1.86GHz but this new one is a duo and when getting into the duos you can't really compare the duo clock speeds to other processors and this 1.73GHz will more than outdo your old one and just to get an idea it would take a p4 processor of about 4GHz clock speed to match your new processor i would tell you about a m processor but im very familair with the p4s so if i were you i wouldnt complain

it's not the fact, its the principle, i like to argue but if the system really does out perform mine, which i know it probably will, ill jsut end up keeping it
post #26 of 42
lol i didnt see there was a 2nd page on this already i thought there was only 1 page until i saw u responeded to me and it brought me to this 2nd page so i had to read everything else and like i said the core duo and and m are totally different you cannot really compare their clock speeds because the processors are just completley different and trust me you will love your replacement it will outform your old on in everyway

A 1.73ghz CD is not only a step above any Pentium M, its more like leaps and bounds. If you want to nitpick and complain go ahead(i dont mean that in a disrespectful way), and in all likeliness be successfull, but just realize the system your getting is probably along the lines as twice as powerful as what you had, as far as CPU and GPU capabilities.

You can argue its a lower clock speed, but theres not a chance in hell the Core Duo wont out perform the Pentium M, but hey Dells got plenty of money.

so i recieved the laptop today, and i must say its amazing. Only a few minor changes to the 9300, the overall feel is different. The screen is a sharp (dunno if that is the bad one) but only very minimal light leakage which will go away probbaly, also the touch pad is extremely different and annoying to get used to, but ill manage. Otherwise i think its a keeper, just a quick question, how do i send the 9300 back to dell? they didn't give me any means of shipping it back. SHould i just keep it and wait for them to call me? or just ask their tech support?
you should check ur documents, there'll be a DHL airbone bill some where. Or just call or email them that u need to resend it back. Dell carefully sent me 2 DHL shipping bill to ship back the system. That's awesome man, u've got the 7900GS. I don't really mind much about CPU , I need better GPU to play games. I'm asking my technician to get another exchange with 7900GS with it.

I love the COre 2 Duo and LG LCD ( it's way better than Samsung) but it's still defective of hardware malfunction. I hope if i get a third replacement, they should I'll demand them to upgrade my ATI to NVidia , because the ATI is only option when i ordered mine they ran out of stock on Nvidia during that time.

I have been having this memory parity issue as well.

I have the 1.83 core duo, 7900GS, etc...

I bought my own ram and I thought it was faulty at first. I ran it for 17 hours at first no errors (memtest). Ran it again, some errors...and again for over 1 day straight and no errors! Then I used the Dell memory and essentially I got the same results and I doubt that 2 out of the 4 memory sticks are faulty. I actually tested each one individually and got no errors so yeah.
I often got these errors playing WoW and in other situations. Oddly enough every time I installed some programs I would get this BSOD. I am almost positive it has something to do with the video card...I have been waiting way too long for the replacement and it has been backordered to top it off. If this video card doesnt fix the problem I will be pissed. I think I troubleshooted with them about 343843 times as well as troubleshooting myself.

U're right, those blue screens often shows up on my computer when i was trying to reinstall windows. or sometimes it frozen while i was reinstall. I'm not really keen on doing the memtest cause it takes too long. The first system seems to have more errors than the second one. I test those system by leaving it on for couple of days and the blue screen will come up. If it's not for 2 or 3 weeks , it's good to go. SO i did the "leave the computer on" for 5 days with the 2nd new system. After day 4, it starts to crash to blue screen . I WAS PISSED THAT TIME >.< . I immediately wrote a letter to Dell and she said. The BSOD on the new system again with same error message? i said yes. What the heck is wrong with Dell hardware. If they don't fix this soon,..... I can't imagine what i would do...

After using the laptop, I decided that I was going to keep it. However, after re-installing Windows, I recieved a BSOD every where I turned. Boot into safe mode? Nope... BSOD. Boot Windows normally? Nope... BSOD. Well, I called Dell and after a really long time of running diagnostics, and Dell could not find the problem, they agreed to again replace the system. Since I had both systems with me, the 9300 and the e1705, they told me I had to mail one back first. So I mailed the e1705 since it was not functioning. So I have the rep's ID number, his e-mail, and a way to reach him through phone. He told me to contact him after they recieve the laptop (which should be by Wed.). Anyway, hopefully my new system will work.

Props to Dell for two system exchanges, but hopefully I will not need a third anytime soon.
I don't know how many e1705 out there have a problem with BSOD, but i could say alot.

What message was on it? "memory parity error"??

I don't like diagnostic test Dell at all, it's wasting our time. Most of us knows what to do when a problem occurs right?

no it wasn't that error, it seemed to be caued by a driver... However, i am almost poisitive it is the windows installation because media direct is fully functional. But i cannot format through the windows CD or a boot disk.... so delll is like ok we hae to replace that system.

Another update:
I know this post is a little dated but I didn't find it necessary to make a new one.
Anyways, I finally recieved a replacement. It replaced the older e1705 becuase it had a BSOD problem I could not solve and neither could Dell. I recieved pretty much the same system except I got the Core 2 Duo 2.00 ghz processor and the screen is better by leaps and bounds.
The only thing that upset me was that they still shipped a 5400 rpm 60 gb HD. Even though it is the same as what I originally purchased, i was expecting the 80.... Oh well, the new system is glorious I will definately post pics in a moment.
And then I am going to format this bad boy and load up Linux.

Nope, I have a way to ship it back. Thanks though.

Man, that's a good deal. I wish i could have the 7900GS. Congrats. Seems like there're people out there are replaced with way better computer than the old one.

Complain and yes you can get an M1710 and my roommate did just that he had a i9300 with go6800 and 2.0GHz . Now he has an M1710 not only with a dual core 2.0GHz but also got 7900GTX with all that vid mem.

Now hes got me by vid card and processor, but at least i have 2Gb of ram and soon hopefully to try and get 2.4GHz processor and I will have him there also until games really start to take advantage of dual core
