Henrik's stuff

That contains the driver, the temperature monitor and the battery saver, and the acpiec on / off regs.

If you want to monitor the temperature, you'll have to unzip wintemp and install the tvichw demo provided, run acpiec_off and restart, then wintemp should work. After running acpiec_off you'll lose a lot of windows power management, including the battery status, but you can get it back again with acpiec_on and a restart.

Batterysaver also the installation of that driver, but it will run whether the acpiec is on or off (I think, not quite sure about this one). Use the slider and the effect is immediate, slowdown is obvious but the battery will last longer and it'll run cooler.

See Henrik's thread for more details.

Edit: forgot to put the readme in the zip, so it's here
Edit again: Dll / driver confusion

But does it work w/ the 8790?
That I couldnt tell you, it depends on the architecture of the 8790, specifically whether or not it uses a seperate ACPI EC and exposes that EC on the same ports. In all likelyhood, as the clevos seem to all share a similar architecture, yes it'll work, but even Henrik couldnt say for sure without trying it out.

I'm still trying to get a working version built myself, but I dont get much free time and I dont have Henrik's experience or expertise, so it's taking longer than I'd hoped. I dont want to see this project die and I think there's room for improvements, so if anybody thinks they're able to lend a hand with either low level hardware IO or accessing windows ACPI then I'd be happy to hear from you. Specs or a whitepaper on the Insyde H8 keyboard bios (the chip resposible for temp / fan control) would also be appreciated if there's anyone out there with access to them.

Cool. Well, whenever someone actually gets a 8790, write up a review and see if the battery utility works.
Thanks

Hmmm... doesn't seem to work with my 5680 for whatever reason. Says .DLL not found, but it's in the same folder as Wintemp.exe (unzipped). Oh well.. it was worth a shot.

it works on a 5680, its been confirmed many times over before.

Read the directions!
I did read the directions.... whatever application was posted isn't the same as the one that was sent to me via email. The one I was sent email works fine. The directions are pretty simple... even I couldn't f it up. But thanks for the "read the directions advice." Would never of thought of that one. Anways... here is a link to the one that worked for me.

Keep in mind.. this is the Temp app only.

Chill out . My apologies, it's been a while since I installed henrik's app myself and I'd forgotten there was a driver to install, I just saw the dll and assumed that was it. I've updated the zip linked in my post above to include the full tvichw50 demo that you posted, thanks for that.

Does anyone still have Henrik's stuff? I've got MaxFan but would like the other programs too.
