Well... I got my new screen today...
Dell sent me a Refurb when they specifically told me I would get a new one.
The screen came completely bare with no manual what so ever... infact.. it was litterally just the LCD panel. The tech told me someone must have screwed up because I am supposed to get the whole "LID" portion.. with the screen integrated. Soo.....
I was pissed... I called Dell and complained.. they gave me a 100 dollar coupon for online orders
I then also spoke to an american tech who said he will send me a brand new screen
I went back to work.. after the tech came to replace my Videocard, touchpad and keyboard.. which I must admit .. the videocard fan is much quieter... That is nice.
I was really uneasy about this whole thing... bad screen, videocard, trackstick buttons... hmmm So I called Dell again.
This time I insisted they either provide me a complete system replacement or I will send the unit back for a refund. The woman I spoke to agreed and placed a new system order for me. She also granted a 10 day extension on my thirty days so that i could evaluate the system. I think that is fair. It shis new system is not up to my standards though, I will be sending it back and not buying a dell again.
Incidentally i decided to rry mounting the refurb LCD to see if it was any better.... and well... it wasn't... It had a dead pixel in the center of the screen and the border illumination was actually much worse... Oh well.. maybe they will get it righ the second time around.
