A Workspace Idea :D

I was thinking about workspaces and was wondering what if it was possiable to have one continous workspace. As in all 4 workspaces linked together and by moving the cusor left or right, it would move the whole screen left or right. Kind of like setting a res of 5120x1024 in windows. What do you guys think of that? Is there something already out there that does that? Is it even possiable?

in your xorg.conf (or through the kde control panel) you can create a virtual resolution which is bigger than your real screen so then like you said, you can just scroll your mouse to see the whole thing.

sounds like a pretty dumb idea to me though. i like the 4 separate workspaces, and i hardly use more than 2 at a time anyway,

Yep, and how it is handled is entirely defined by the window manager. For instance e16 used to at least, by default, work like this, where as you hit the edge of one screen you go to the next, however how it was set up you couldnt go halfway to the next, it was all or nothing. I tended to change it so that at least it woudl stick a moment or two before doing that as it got interesting doing things near the edge of the screen. E17, at least doesnt have this set by default I don't believe(Or it doesnt enforce it on twinview screens at least), but I could probably get it to act like this if I wanted. If you want the partway scrolling see ABF's suggestion. Seablade
