I received my refurbished Dell XPS 1710 notebook today. The LCD on it is bad. The screen is very dim, as if thought he brightness is at its lowest setting. I called Dell and they will send someone out to replace the LCD sometime this week (Hopefully by Friday).
I also noticed that Dell was running at 15% off on their outlet notebooks, so I asked to be transferred over to Customer Service. When I reached customer service, I asked if I could get the 15% on my Dell XPS 1710 outlet notebook.
The person I spoke to said that he couldn’t do that because of some reason or another.
He then said that he would give me $100 off on the notebook.
I told him that $100 off on the notebook was unacceptable and when I received the notebook, the LCD is bad on it and now I have to go through the hassle of having it replaced.
He said that best he could do was $100, so I told him, that I want $200 off on the notebook and we’ll call it a deal. He put me on hold for about three minutes and came back and said he could give me $175 off on the notebook. So I took the $175.
At the end of the day, I got a XPS 1710, with 2GB RAM, Intel core 2 Duo T7200 2GHz, 512MB NVIDIA 7950 GTX, etc, with 3 year complete care for $2094. So I guess that isn’t too bad of a deal.
I looked up the warranty on my notebook, and it says, Next business day, Includes Nights/weekends, expires in Nov of 2010, and complete care expires in 2010.
So I’m assuming the notebook is covered under warranty until 2010? If that’s true, it seems like this was an even better deal than I thought.
