Oh please, please do get the benchmarks! There's a company here in the states (xoticpc) that has the A8Js for sale and I'm drooling over it, but so far there haven't been many performance stats posted. Hook us up!

I've been rather busy, but I already made some tests; all of them with A8Js original drivers (ForceWare 86.02) and default settings.

FEAR v1.0:

I run the provided test demo with default and with higher settings as well. Too bad this game doesn't allow 16:10 resolutions (perhaps there are some tweaks for that). The default is 800x600 and the max. is 1152x864. I set custom settings: 1024x768, no soft shadows, no FSAA, anisotropic filter x2. All the rest (physics, details, particles, etc.) on MAXIMUM:

Pretty good, isn't it?

I've also tested Oblivion at 1440x900, maximum detail, trilinear filter, no FSAA, HDR ON. It runs about 30FPS on the outsides of the Imperial City (much better than I expected). I'll download some texture LOD patches before making more tests.

I also tried to test Call Of Duty 2 v1.3, but didn't benchmark it because it fails to load timedemos for unknown reasons.

thanks

Surfing the web with WiFi on it lasts about 2h30m. It could be better, indeed.

Now THAT'S impressive!!

Now this is weird: Oblivion runs slower with bloom than with HDR, and even slower without HDR and bloom. Also, I've tried to install some mods, but the folders and paths they indicate don't exist!

I'll do some research when I have more time.

Some nice benchmarks... the 3dmark06 score is quite impressive.... Now, I'd like to see the 7700 put to work! *cough* Overclock!!!

Bless you Sire_Alvar!!!
Thanks for the benches!!! Really helps out a lot. I wanted to make sure that it would run oblivion well cause thats really one of the games i wanted to play when i get one. So thats cool that oblivion runs well with the A8js. Any other benches or info you may have would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I forgot to say in Oblivion those 30FPS are not constant. They move between roughly 15 and 45FPS and I was just having a walk (no enemies near). Graphic detail and options are well above the average, though. Mouse is a bit laggy and characters' self shadowing doesn't work very well, but all this is in Oblivion v1.0 (it's known it's very buggy) with no tweaks at all and there also are newer ForceWare drivers, so I expect to see some improvements by installing patches and upgrades.

If someone has any timedemo for Call Of Duty 2 I could try it

Some screenshots of Oblivion. HDR, 1440x900, no VSync, all settings on max.

Before modding:

Then I installed these mods and patches:
- 4096x4096 Landscape LOD Texture Pack Version 2
- Grass Without Tiling v1.0
- Natural Environments 2.1.2

And got this!

Take notice of the inexistent decrease in perfomance. And all this is running in a 14" machine

Wow!

At those frame rates does the game feel smooth? Also how do you like the LCD (color, contrast, and viewing angles)?

Well, actually framerate gets better in other parts and being Oblivion a RPG much slowly paced than an FPS, it's not so important. This game is also known for its ridiculous optimization (probably that's the reason of not losing FPS with these mods) so don't expect perfomance miracles on any rig, although it may get somewhat better with some tweaking or patching since it's very weird to have better performance with HDR than without it. Also I still have to install newer ForceWare drivers.

I'm not very used to TFTs, but my impressions of A8js' screen it that it has poor vertical angles and somewhat poor contrast in dark images (it was a bit uncomfortable to see "24" on it) but nice colors, horizontal angles, and nice contrast with medium and bright images.

Thanks!

As long as the LCD is as good as, or better, than the one in my current laptop (Vaio S560P) I'll be happy.

looks pretty good. Thanks for posting the pics and all the info. Excellent job good sir.

Here is the A8js 3DMark06 2665. Stock settings:

The laptop performed very well here, Nvidia has a tendency to perform better in 3Mark06 then ATI, but just marginaly.

As other have reported gaming on this laptop is great.

Some here are asking about the screen and it's viewing angles, well to be honest, the angles remind me exactly of the A8jm. I would say the view angles are the same or little better or worse than the a8jm.
For those who do not know much about the A8jm, the viewing angles are a little restrictive, around 100 degrees to 110 degree.

Hey thanks for this little bit of info as well. Anything that anyone can post about this machine would be awsome. Still lookin to see if anyone has any Half life 2 benches or stats for this machine. Thanks!!!!
Have you tested the temperatures after gaming for quite some time?
