8887 strange power issue...

Thread Starter
I all,
My laptop seems to died :
- no boot.
- no led on even with AC adaptater plugged.
- When the brick(outside the laptop) is unppluged from the laptop, then its led is ON.
But if I plug it to the laptop then its led starts flickering

I have tested the power brick and it seems to be OK since it gives near 20V, and the same with the batterie.

After reading a feew post, I suspect the internal PSU to be dead but after opening my laptop I cant find any litle card modul that could be this PSU

What is your opinion?
Does someone know if the 888ES (or SAGER 8887) as a separate internal PSU? or is it on the motherboard itself?

thanks

The power brick (external) connects directly to the Mother-board and all of the power supply parts are on the Mother-board.

You can try smelling different areas of the Mother-board, searching for an electronic type burnt smell which may lead you to a damaged part.

But first try something easier...

try using another power brick if you can get one, remove battery and re-test.

remove the parts such as battery, hard drive, floppy drive, dvd drive and re-test.

lastly you can remove memory modules and CPU and re-test.

if your power brick light still flickers when plugged into the laptop with all of these parts removed, the problem is most likely on the Mother-board. If you can repair electronics, download a service manual from this forum.

good luck!
