GRUB Error 18

Hi,

I have installed Linux on my desktop,i have 2 hardrives.One has XP Pro and is the main,the second has XP Pro and some pictures.I just installed Unbuntu Linux and when i turn on the system it loads then says "Grub Loadind,please wait... Error 18"

I am really stuck! This is a home-built pc and quite old,no warranty

Have i mucked up my computer?

we need more details. where did you install grub to? mbr or partition? details details details.

and btw, i wouldn't knwo the solution since i never installed linux on a computer with multiple drives

Heh your BIOS doesnt support the size of HD you have in there natively, here is some reading on the topic...

At any rate, short answer is you would need to make a /boot partition and have it be the first partition on the HD you are accessing, not really an easy task as you also have windows there and resizing from the front instead of the end of the partition I make absolutely NO garuntees about it working, in fact I would lean strongly towards it will kill something if you do it, but have never tried it so I would enjoy being proved wrong.
