mouse and keyboard freeze after computer is idle

my keyboard and mouse occasionally freeze after being idle for a while although a few times i have been working on the computer during the lockup.

i noticed that others have had similar problems. one person had a bad ram module. not the case with me, i ran memtest and also changed out each module by itself and in different slots. still the same lockup problems.

another had an old WLAN driver installed. i have all the latest drivers in my computer from windows update so that is not my problem.

anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions?

i also have the latest bios installed. 1.07 i believe.

okay. well i think i found the problem and will post it in case others have the same problem.

the problem is a PCMCIA WLAN card that i am using. The Netgear WPNT511. if i just use the built in WLAN card with the updated driver from Windows Update, then everything works fine.

I have not had a lockup yet with this fix. hopefully i won't.
