Cheap Plastic?

I'm a very proud owner of a new macbook. Everything has been going great as far as switching from windows and getting used to everything. My only concern is my MacBook case. With the screen open, to the right of the actual screen, the plastic clicks and pops when i push on it. So if you have a MacBook it's about two inches down from the top of the plastic that goes around the screen. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I be worried? Should I take it back? I only settle for perfect, especialy when it involves this much money.

Apple has gotten worse with quality control, and the design of how the plastics line up around screens and the trackpads have sucked for years, even the old iBook the macbook replaced had that problem.

If you can take it to an Apple store do so.

I've heard at least two people say they shut their macbook lid only to come back to it later and find the screen cracked. Apple won't cover that under AC because they consider it accidental damage—now if it happens to a lot more people...—but just in case I'd take it to get it looked at.

I remember the last iBook I bought was warped, wouldn't close right, and the plastics were all off. The guy at Apple had the nerve to ask me what was wrong with it, lol. I asked him to open it and take a look, took him 2 minutes to figure out the latch jammed cause of the warping.

I got a new one

had something happen the other day thats never happened before, on any notebook.

i turned macbook off, put in its sleeve, and loaded it in backpack. 1hr later, opened bag, and laptop was down to 13% charge, fan was on, in the sleeve, in the backpack.

now this woulda taken an extreme amount of force somewhere on the case to hit the button. couldnt believe anything like that got through the apple sleeve, and the backpack. and im not rough with my bags either, hmmm

and just to clarify, the notebook was turned off the right way, and screen was open for several minutes before it was shut and put away.

KG...did you close the lid before or after it had COMPLETELY shut down?

I've heard, I think here on the boards, of people shutting the lid before the computer shuts down completely and coming back to it later to find it still on.

I honestly do NOT trust the new Macbooks at all. Thankfully my wifes Macbook has been ok, a few glitches that I attribute to the OS X x86 code, but thankfully no hardware problems.

My blackbook has that clicking on the lower left part of the screen. If you press it, it gives a little and clicks inward. It's like it's not fitted together well. There is no visible problems, and it doesn't affect normal use and doesn't really bother me much either.
