M1210:Terrible Skype Performance

Thread Starter
Hi there,

I get audio cut-outs using Skype and the M1210 and yet I get no cut-outs and flawless performance using the old Inspiron 8600.

I've tried the latest Quickcam drivers but they're just as useless.

Additionally, plugging in a headset still produces the same problem with the line cutting out all the time. Indeed, I have to manually go to the Sound control panel to select the Sigma audio chipset for the Mic, whereas on the 8600 it automatically switches to the headset when it is plugged in.

Has any one else had problems with their M1210 and Skype? If so, did you fix it? I'm using the latest Skype 2.5 download.

I've experienced the same issues when I tried skype with my brother, either the internal mic, or headset and mic both drop inputs very often.

No idea why, had to switch to useing another machine for skype.

no problems with skype here... i do video calls somewhat regularly to my parents and they say its pretty much perfect. i'm using the 2.6 beta though.. might want to try that out.

also the mic has been REALLY good at isolating my voice. i can get away without using headphones and it doesn't create any echo, whereas my friends w/ macbook and macbook pros sound terrible as i always here myself comming back through their mic's

Hmm, I had some audio problems, playback mostly, but this thread seemed to help.

I am not sure if this will help you out, but you might give it a try. Pretty easy to do and my mic sounds fine similar to flashback87.
