In the pics, the left side shift key looks wonky. Is that just the angle of the pics?

How does it feel on your lap??????

Are the "feet" uncomfortable??????

I redid pictures 1, 2, 3 because they were pretty hideous.

It should be fine in your lap, the legs are almost flush with the center, the vents are just sunken in a bit and extend out to the sides and back

I've always been a desktop person, but you can hear the fans, I don't know if their really loud, but they are noticable. Not sure how that compares to other laptops. The sound is great, but I got an ext. soundcard to compare it with once I get it set up. Playing a DVD on it (Jurassic Park 3), the sound was great.

I wanna stress, the legs are different from what I expected. They are almost flush with the bottom of the laptop. The fans are raised up (sunkin in) a bit, so it lies flush. It also has 2 exhaust fans up above. It doesn't seem to fit on a antec cooler, but its been running 3 hours now, and it is hardly warm. So I doubt I will need the antec

it would be awesome if you could post a review of this system. i know that it's similar to the 9100, which i'm curious about.

you said the fans are loud, and that's an important thing for me. how noticable are they? are they always on, or do they only come on when you are putting it to use?

I posted a mini review on the link below. I really haven't had a chance to do much but familiarize myself with the laptop. I will do a full review, probably on Monday. The fans seem to be on all the time, but I do notice them. They are not real loud but this is my first laptop, and my current desktop is a 450mhz. On my desktop, the fans don't come on very often, but when they do, they are probably twice as loud as the laptop.

If I had to compare it to something, I would say its not quite as loud as the rewind on a vcr. It is definately something you can get used too, and the fact that I was specifically thinking about it doesn't help. I could get used too it faster than the sound of my desktop. Hope that helps a little.

I expected four protrusions that would dig into my lap with the weight of a lead brick. Very cool!

One down side I found, and this is from my ignorance on the subject. I thought the 1394 port was firewire, just my bad. There is not a firewire port on the laptop though. No big loss, I'll just need to get a pcmcia for firewire?

I'll need to find out more about the 1394, I guess it's for like data transfer on cameras or video???

so I was right. Hmm, the firewire cable on the external drive I picked up has the same connector on both sides, a beveled USB. I guess I just need an adapter.

Thanks.

The firewire that comes with it is an i-Link firewire port. You should be able to pick up an i-Link (4 pin) to 6 pin firewire from anywhere.

The only pain is that the 4 pin doesn't give power out.

i-Link is a Sony 'invention' IIRC and connects to most DV Cams and such
