... the thing is I might be just unlucky one out of many happy customers which I can see all around here. Yea, it's easy to say I should not have to pay extra to get working system but at the end of the day it is Alienware who decides on this... I still have last hopes before turning from them!

I came to these excellent notebook forums a few months ago while researching a laptop to get; I decided on the amazing m5750. It seemed like an awesome laptop, and I bet it is-- that is when it doesn't have a giant crack underneath the LCD.

I recieved my m5750 with a crack underneath the screen and have been going through alot of crap for the last month while trying to get it repaired.
I still tested it out to see how good it was, and it ran and was extremely awesome, but I had to send it back because of the huge defect. I hope the computer isn't too weak considering the alienware support people say that it must have been caused by fedex. It was packed decently enough so if it broke so easily in shipping it might be fragile... I hope not.

Anyhow I can't say much for Alienware customer service; some of the people were nice, but so far not many people have been of much help. I should be talking to a manager today, so I hope things work out. Right now the people are giving me the run around, and I am somewhat pissed that I have waited 2 months and haven't yet recieved a working laptop for the $2000 I spent.

Anyhow, good luck to anyone else who is having problems with their m5750.

Here is the picture of the defect that shipped with my Alienware laptop... Damnit, this sucks.

Holy crap!!! This should be covered by FEDEX insurance you paid with the shipping!

whoa, that's horrible!

Well I have 2 m5750's sent to me, and they are both in perfect working condition...

Sad, but true... that there will be "lemons" in any batch of technology...

hope the 2 of you getting perfectly working systems soon

Well, nothing yet from the credit card company on the paying the restocking fee . They told me i haven't been charged with the for the system, which i very happy to here , but nothing yet on the restocking fee.

Atomicfrog, that is 100% B.S. that they would send you your m5750 with a crack on the screen. Sorry to here about your lemon.

well my money is on a shipping error from Fed-ex for the cracked screen

I seriously doubt alienware would PURPOSELY sent a laptop with a cracked lcd..give them some credit.

Why would AW send a busted screen out when they have to pay for shipping back and the repairs?

Today I got a call from CIT person - saying he will call me later today with a status. I'm wondering what he comes up with. The follow up actions depends on that call... I am pretty much prepared for anything...

My FedEx claim finally went through... I'm sure I would have had to wait many more weeks if I didn't spend hours upon hours on the phone trying to talk to a manager; who seemed to finally be able to make things go through with Fed Ex. The manager gave me his personal extension the first time I talked to him, and then told me to call back in 48 hours. I did so, but I had to get through one of his grunts in order to speak to him (since they don't have an option to dial an extension.). It was really annoying because this guy kept telling me that the manager was "busy", and that I should call back "next week" because the manager had "no news" for me (I told him the manager should be busy honoring his commitment). After talking to the extremely annoying grunt for 30 minutes and having to mention a lawsuit, he finally made it so that I could speak with the manager.

The manager said that I should be getting my laptop back this coming week (Though I don't believe him, but if he is right I will definently be happy.). I have to say that Alienware's technical support is pretty unsatisfactory though. I hope the computer is better than the support, and hopefully it will last me quite awhile. Anyhow, it seemed like a really great laptop, but I wouldn't know yet since I don't have it. If the laptop turns out to be really good I will let you know after a month of usage, but in terms of technical support I should definently warn you that Alienware technical support sucks.
